Carmel)

Johnson more than backed up his reputation as the top prospect in the 2029 class in Illinois as the 6'3” Mt. Carmel guard had moments of brilliance at the event. His pure size, strength, and athleticism playing on the ball jumps out and makes him a high-major prospect early in the process. He was a monster on the defensive end moving his feet, contesting shots, and being so much larger than the guys he was guarding while still being able to stay in front of them. His burst getting to the rim on downhill drives in both the half court and transition made him unstoppable as he lived in the paint and got to the line at a high rate. Finishes incredibly well through and around defenders in the paint. Snatches rebounds on the defensive end and then pushed going coast to coast for scores or finding teammates. Capable three point shooter who continues to improve each time we see him.

[player_tooltip player_id='2798656' first='Zach' last='Newman'] (Deerfield)

Newman is among the more productive posts in the 2029 class. The 6'5” big man is tough and physical around the hoop. Got on the glass for put backs and was physical with his post moves down low. Finished better in the second game we saw him including a nice right handed hook shot. Pounded the offensive glass for second chance points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3701312' first='Daniel' last='Ruffin'] (Peoria)

Ruffin had a very strong showing at the Sophomore ID Camp. The ranked Peoria guard was able to efficiently and effectively score from all three levels. Got in the lane with burst downhill, drained mid-range shots creating space to get it off, and even knocked in several threes. Plus athlete who plays above the rim in transition and rebounded pretty well for a guard.

[player_tooltip player_id='3689793' first='Lawrence' last='Burnett'] (St. Lawrence)

Burnett is a skilled guard that made his mark on the defensive end. Quality perimeter defender including recording a couple blocks against guards. Like the overall game with Burnett as a smooth athlete combined with a skilled offensive game and connective passing.

Darian Lopez (Rockford Guilford)

The 6'0” tough as nails guard from Rockford is a difficult cover when he gets a head of steam behind him. Was at his best pushing in the open floor for finishes in the transition game. Definitely an up and coming name to watch out of Rockford!

[player_tooltip player_id='3604328' first='Revell' last='Gilbert'] (Joliet Central)

Gilbert emerged as a 6'6” power forward with a long and lanky frame. The lefty four man has son touch around the hoop, nice looking free throw stroke, and was a force defensively. Really liked his post defense and ability to protect the rim in the paint!

[player_tooltip player_id='2780838' first='Oliver' last='Lavin'] (Lincoln Way East)

Lavin is a 5'10” point guard that has a pure shooting stroke. The lefty lead guard was lethal with his jump shot when we saw him play knocking in an array of them.

Leonard Thomas (Tinley Park)

The 5'10” point guard from Tinley Park was slick with the rock in his hands. Crisp ball handler that had several smooth takes for finishes in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='2953282' first='Marlon' last='Sabourin'] (Crystal Lake Central)

At 6'3” the thick bodied wing brings long arms while allow him to play taller. High-motor player that was active on the offensive glass, got to the free throw line at a high clip, and was solid defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='3566665' first='Will' last='Rusak'] (St. Patrick)

The 6'4” undersized post from St. Patrick with a good frame and strength was impactful making plays around the hoop. Used his physical advantages as he was stronger than most posts he went up against. Got on the glass for second chance points.
