The class of 2027 is now at the forefront of the state. We've watched these young men for three years go through highs and lows, but with one final season, everything can change. The recruiting landscape of high school athletes is not what it used to be, but these seven players have a chance to boost their recruiting with a huge senior season.

One of the best shooters in the state resides in Charlotte. Zyon is a career 40% sharp shooter from deep and enjoyed a good summer where he added more layers to his game. He has started to utilize his shooting gravity to his advantage and use more ball fakes to allow him to get to the rim. Not overly athletic but has improved his finishing at and above the rim. Coming off a season where he made 70+ threes at a 40% clip while averaging 15 points, you can expect another big year for Zyon as Chambers could be a sleeper in 8A

A big year on the horizon for [player_tooltip player_id='2055662' first='CJ' last='Jones']. With the exit of [player_tooltip player_id='1571119' first='King' last='Kendrick'] and Ayden Johnson, the Eagles are going to need CJ to soar to another level. He showcased he's more than capable of carrying a heavier workload this summer in live sessions. When you average 15 points as the third option, scoring is something the Eagles don't have to worry about with CJ. He'll need to take strides in his playmaking to become a more complete guard in the new system. From what he put on display this summer, that should not be that difficult.

Smooth, effortless, and consistent are what describes [player_tooltip player_id='3553023' first='Dillon' last='Mason'] best. The shot creation and ability to get to his spots with ease are high level. With his size and frame, he's able to cause mismatches consistently. As soon as teams try to take away his elite outside shooting, he switches to downhill mode where he constantly finishes above the rim. Nearly having back to back 20 point per game averages for the Eagles and coming off an exceptional summer, expect Dillon to surge all year.

After nearly single handily bringing a state championship back to Wilmington, [player_tooltip player_id='2268801' first='Hunter' last='Mcgrath'] returns to try and finish the job. Hoggard has won 20+ games in back to back seasons and in each year, Hunter has been a pivotal piece to the success. Each year, Hunter has improved from an eye test and numbers perspective. The outside shooting is still elite and he's gained more confidence in creating off the bounce. He'll need to have the full skillset on display in a big year for himself and the team. After losing Will seward, more attention could be coming Hunters way but as he's done every year, he'll adjust and continue to emerge as one of the best seniors in the class.

Brennen is a silent assassin on the floor. There is no flashiness or showboating in his game, he just shows up and handles business. He has the type of game where you look up at the end of the game and say "Wait what, he had 25?". He led Knightdale to their first 20 win season since 2018-2019 and was rewarded by being named conference player of the year and second team All-District. A true three level scorer that can make shots in a variety of ways. An exceptional rebounder and defender while also being able to orchestrate offense when needed.
The jump Nixon made from sophomore to junior was historical. Don't believe me? Check the stats and accolades. He nearly doubled his production this year in all major categories, including points and rebounds. This improvement earned him Southwestern Conference MVP, the first junior to ever win the award in East Mecklenburg history. Nixon is an aggressive downhill attacker who tries to break backboards on his dunks. He thrives in transition with the ball in his hands or running lanes as a lob threat. His spot up shooting is superb and as the shot creation continues to progress, Nixon could be a scary sight. Continuing his improvement, the college interest should pick up with yet another big season for the Eagles.

Each year, Terry has shown growth in his game. From a numbers perspective he has increased his scoring, rebounding, and steals every year. Terry plays with an exceptional motor but always under control. A ferocious finisher at the rim but also a knockdown shooter from deep. His improvements over the years landed him all conference and all district honors this past year as the Bears finished with their best record since 2013-2014. Five star prospect AJ Scott dominates the headlines but Terry is an exceptional player who could explode in his senior campaign. The blend of size, skillset and IQ makes him one of the seniors you need to watch this year.
