Expert Analysis
Lonte Smith | Prep Hoops Scout
The jump Nixon made from sophomore to junior was historical. Don’t believe me? Check the stats and accolades. He nearly doubled his production this year in all major categories, including points and rebounds. This improvement earned him Southwestern Conference MVP, the first junior to ever win the award in East Mecklenburg history. Nixon is an aggressive downhill attacker who tries to break backboards on his dunks. He thrives in transition with the ball in his hands or running lanes as a lob threat. His spot up shooting is superb and as the shot creation continues to progress, Nixon could be a scary sight. Continuing his improvement, the college interest should pick up with yet another big season for the Eagles.

Wright is another piece from this 1 of 1 17u team that really emerged as a bonafide next level guy in the month of July with the effort and selfless approach allowing his game to shine bright on a really big stage. When we watched them up in Richmond, Wright was absolutely all over the floor with this two way impact on full display as a strong and physical defender who used those same traits to have an impact on the glass at both ends of the floor. Wright made timely plays all weekend long and was vital in 1 of 1’s victory over Cooz Elite. He showed exactly where he fits in over the course of those high level matchups and he’s simply a guy you want on your side in those type of games. Look out for Wright at East Meck as he has a chance for a really big senior season as he continues to make his next level case!

was able to do. There’s something about a big time athlete that plays super hard all the time with a naturally low maintenance approach to the game. In that win vs Cooz Elite, Wright was a presence on the glass, providing a ton of resistance defensively, and found a way to get timely baskets at the rim, often off of put backs. He excelled in his role for this group with his ability to provide supplemental production and be a true presence at both ends of the floor. The coaches noticed and I fully expect his recruitment to pick up over the course of this month.

Arguably one of the biggest risers from Top 140 into the No. 32 position in the latest 2027 rankings update; a nice blend of athleticism, strength and versatility which he puts on a full display with his ability to attack the rim and make things happen on the hardwood; all eyes will be on him over at East Mecklenburg

Shades of Lu Dort come to mind when watching this one play; strong framed wing/guard who can defend with his presence; even more of a threat getting downhill and attacking the painted area; can shoot on the perimeter as well; vastly underrecruited with 1 of 1 Elite on the NxtPro16 stage
