Williams is the hottest backcourt recruit in North Carolina’s 2027 class through the month of July as he picked up right where he left off after a strong June and has carried it into a special July with 1 of 1 on the Pro16 Circuit. He’s one of hte top lead guards in the State regardless of class and will get a bump in the next rankings update. He delivered truly special performances and got offers from UNC Asheville, Richmond, and Mount St Marys.

Williams might be the biggest riser across the whole HoopState after his string of elite performances up in Virginia this past weekend. We were able to check in on two of his games in person including a signature performance that led to a signature win for 1 of 1 as they faced Cooz Elite and consensus 5 star PG Reese Alston. Williams proved he can get his game off vs any team in the country as he guided 1 of 1 with his ability to get the rim and make plays for himself or others. This was coming off of a very strong performance the night before where it was much of the same with more jumpers mixed in. After the game he got offers from Youngstown State and UNC Asheville, that should only be the start of what was ultimately a life changing weekend for Williams who is starting to get the recruitment he so very well deserves.

Williams is ranked amongst other division one level players for a reason and over the month of June he once again proved that he’s a bonafide prospect for that level. Now that Williams has had consistent health over the last 12-18 months, he’s in a real rhythm with his game as a complete scorer of the basketball. He’s grown to about 6’3″, embraced the grind in the weight room, and has parlayed all of his experience to make him a very poised player. With Hickory Ridge, Williams was able to help carry them to many wins in both the NCBCA Camp and the Phenom Hoops Team Camp. He’s a really smooth and confident scorer that is able to exploit mismatches in the backcourt in so many ways.

Williams continues to look like one of those guards who simply produces every time you watch him. He plays with strength, gets downhill, and embraces contact around the rim. What stood out most was his ability to pressure the paint while still making the right reads when help arrived.

Williams is a North Carolina prospect who has some interest from Wofford. He received his first D1 offer from Incarnate Word back in March, but it certainly won’t be his last based on what I’ve seen from him in the spring and today with Hickory Ridge. Travien is a handful when he puts his head down and wants to get to the rim. He glides around the floor with speed, strength, and athleticism, but he’s a good enough playmaker to elevate the level of play of his teammates and an efficient enough shooter to punish defenses that leave him open from three.

Williams is a very gifted prospect in NC’s 2027 class who has been producing at a high level at Hickory Ridge for quite some time now. Hickory Ridge is 13-5 with a 7-1 mark in league play and Williams is simply doing what he does. In his junior season, Williams is averaging 23 Points, 9 Rebounds, 5 Assists, and 4 Steals per game. Williams is a dynamic shot maker from beyond the arc and in the mid-range. He also does a great job making reads out of ball screens where he has accurate and timely passes, along with possessing the ability to finish at the rim in a variety of ways. Williams just announced he’ll be playing with 1 of 1 Elite this spring/summer.

Next up on the list is Team Ish ‘s Travien Williams Travien Williams 6'2" | SG Hickory Ridge | 2027 State NC . Williams came up short in the matchup with Coulter and the Aces, but that game would’ve been much different without him on the floor. 18 of his 25 points came in the second half, as he began to use his physical advantage to score in the paint. Travien also racked up 4 steals and a block as his athleticism affected the game on the defensive end too. Williams is a very good finisher as he can do so with either hand or through contact.

Williams finds himself in the Top 10 and at the No. 3-ranked spot at the shooting guard position out of Hickory Ridge. He took home an All-Circuit selection at The Duel in DFW this month with Team Ish . He poured in 31 points in an upset over AB Elite, showcasing his ability to score in a variety of ways with his relentless attack. He’s a budding prospect for DI programs in the region to get to know this grassroots cycle.

Williams continues to move up the 2027 rankings as he moves into the 20th position in the overall class. He’s a shifty guard who’s been impressive in leading Hickory Ridge’s backcourt with his ability to create off the bounce and knock down shots. He’s shown he can make things happen with and without the ball in his hands with his athleticism and savvy in the painted area. College programs in the region would be wise to get eyes on him!
