PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2029 Sophomore ID Camp Preview

The third-annual PrepHoops Sophomore ID Camp takes place at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA Sunday afternoon and returning to the scene will be a large group of rising sophomores from across the state, many of whom made an immediate impact on the Oregon high school scene as freshmen. A good amount of this year's attendees attended last year's Freshman Showcase to introduce themselves to us and are now back to show how they've grown and matured as prep standouts.

While out-of-town trips and injuries will prevent some of the very top players from the Class of 2029 from participating in this year's Sophomore ID camp, the number of top-ranked players who will be in the gym is plentiful. Leading the way will be the #3, #4, and #5 players in the grade, Banks' Ryder Powell Ryder Powell 6'3" | SG Banks | 2029 State OR , Parkrose's Victor Norris III Victor Norris III 6'3" | CG/PG Parkrose | 2029 State OR , and Southridge's Judah Hardt Judah Hardt 6'6" | PF/SF Southridge | 2029 State OR . Powell made a huge splash and earned his league's MVP, Norris was a key contributor on the Broncos ride to the 5A title, and Hardt is unquestionably the top big man in the class who keeps on improving as a player. #8 ranked Max Ainsworth Max Ainsworth 6'2" | PG/SG Marshfield | 2029 State OR from Marshfield was another who earned MVP honors from his league. A number of other players who will have bigger roles as sophomores will be in the building including #11 Laikyn Donnelly Laikyn Donnelly 6'6" | C/PF West Salem | 2029 State OR and #20 Jalen Gray Jalen Gray 6'2" | SG/CG West Salem | 2029 State OR from West Salem, #15 Ares Bolware from West Albany, and #21 Kaidence Lee Kaidence Lee 5'8" | PG Jefferson | 2029 State OR from Jefferson.

As always, the city of Portland and the Portland Metro Area are well represented on the rosters, but prospects from as far as Bend, Eugene, and Medford, will also make the journey to Beaverton to participate notably top-ranked ones such as #9 Scottie Miller Scottie Miller 6'2" | SG South Medford | 2029 State OR and #27 Jorge Pacheco Jorge Pacheco 5'8" | PG South Medford | 2029 State OR from South Medford, and #17 Jordan Giles Jordan Giles 5'9" | PG/SG Willamette | 2029 State OR from Willamette. The Class of 2029 still has an extensive watchlist so many of these players will get an opportunity to move into the numeric part of the rankings. The showcase will take place from 3-7 pm and spectators are free to attend. College coaches will be in attendance and games will also be streamed on BallerTV.
