Examining Play of Highest Ranked Prospects at The EXPO Illinois

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>***Use Code “ScottyB30” for 30% off your subscription***</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As we continue our review of The EXPO Illinois here we examine how the highest ranked 2027 and 2028 prospects coming in performed at the event.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2455373' first='Oturo' last='Redento'] (Glenbard North – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Redento is a top 10 senior prospect that is severely under recruited.&nbsp; What we love about him is his size for position, versatile offensive game, and how he impacts defensively.&nbsp; In a camp setting it is a little more difficult for his full strengths to shine through, but you did see him get after it on defense, get others involved with his passing, and be able to play one through four.&nbsp; Cuts well off the ball playing in the flow of the game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2125660' first='Lamari' last='Carpenter'] (Glenbard North – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Carpenter is a pure bucket getter.&nbsp; In the game we saw he poured in an array of threes.&nbsp; The wiry two guard has a clean and easy release on the perimeter being a plus three point shooter.&nbsp; Off the bounce he has some juice getting to the cup for soft touch finishes along with getting his man on his hip and keeping them behind him.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2532341' first='Keyae' last='Lacy'] (Simeon – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lacy is an electric scoring guard that lit up the PHC for Geek Squad with his three level scoring.&nbsp; Plus athlete with quick twitched ability to get to the rim converting with euro steps, acrobatic layups, and get to the line.&nbsp; He was in attack mode in this setting getting to the rim at will.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2389398' first='Orlando' last='Edwards'] (West Aurora – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It was Edwards who was going back and forth with Edwards in their game we caught.&nbsp; Edwards is a two guard that brings quality size and handles.&nbsp; Slippery getting to the cup, pushes in transition, and is a slick passer.&nbsp; Uses his length defensively on the perimeter.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3427173' first='Jordan' last='Wordlaw'] (Dunbar – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wordlaw was a prospect I was really looking forward to seeing in this setting.&nbsp; At Dunbar he doesn't get a ton of attention, but he is a legit D2 talent with his size, strength, and athleticism.&nbsp; Attacks the cup with authority!&nbsp; Plays through contact with his physicality while getting second chance points on the glass.&nbsp; Spin moves on drives for scores in the paint.&nbsp; High-motor wing who is going to post big numbers as a senior!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2467517' first='Darrius' last='Hawkins'] (Homewood Flossmoor – 2028)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Hawkins was the highest ranked junior at the event.&nbsp; He is a dynamic lead guard that has it on a string.&nbsp; One of the most exciting players in the state to watch regardless of class with his ability to create with his lethal handles for himself and others.&nbsp; Was effective knocking in a variety of turnaround jumpers along with finding shooters off the bounce.&nbsp; Speed is stellar in the open floor and has a high basketball IQ!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2540205' first='John' last='Brown IV'] (Homewood Flossmoor – 2028)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Brown is a long and rangy four man that could be in for a breakout junior campaign.&nbsp; At his best when he is playing off his athleticism throwing down dunks, running the floor hard, and being mobile in the paint.&nbsp; Defensively he has upside as a switchable defender and rim protector.&nbsp; Knocked in a couple of mid-range shots showing a clean stroke in the game we saw.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2531979' first='CJ' last='Pittman'] (Whitney Young – 2028)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Dolphins point guard is a strong bodied lead guard who does a nice job of changing pace with the rock in his hands.&nbsp; Slippery scoring in the paint on soft touch finishes and knows how to use his strength to his advantage when he has a weaker guard defending him.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
