Expert Analysis
Michael Schneiderman | Prep Hoops Scout
The West Aurora product brings an intriguing combination of length, athleticism, and handle to the lead guard spot or two-man role. Edwards played the main go to guy on Team 8 throughout the day. From a handling standpoint, he has some shake and wiggle off the bounce where he is able to get a step on defenders in the ½ court setting. In the open floor he helps push for pace in the primary break phase and can get to a new level to create scoring opportunities for himself and others. Defensively Edwards uses anticipation and length to generate blocks, tip passes, and steals which turned into quick offense the other way. His ability to impact at the guard spot at 6’3 and provide fluid athleticism in various ways gives him an intriguing two-way profile.

. After securing rebounds, Edwards immediately turned defense into offense, thundering down the court for easy lay ups. Defenders do not want to be caught chasing him down or attempting to stop him one on one. In one game I saw, Edwards took some middies that weren’t the most effective offensive strategy, but by the next game, he’d already cleaned that up, excelling at not settling for the outside shot and going straight to the rim. Edwards played with an energy and pace that coaches will love.
