Young Stars Shine in 16U Action on Day 1 at Peach Jam

Let's examine a few of the 16U standout prospects from the games we caught in the first day of action!    Julius is a five man with a grown man's frame. The physical center was dominant in the Georgia Stars opening victory as he was impactful in every facet of the game on the interior. He grabbed every rebound that was near him snatching them with his strong hands in traffic. Completely mauled on the glass on both ends throughout the win. Offensively he carved out space on the interior for turnaround jumpers, ferocious dunks, and powered his way to hook shots. Runs the floor tremendously well for dunks, give and go slam, and finished out of the dunker spot. Powerful post with a dominant game 1 at Peach Jam with 21 points (9-15 FG), 19 rebounds, and 3 blocks.     McCullough came out firing for the Stars. The scoring two guard has such a feathery stroke from the perimeter as the 6'1” guard banged in step back twos and pull up threes one after another. His shot making was on point all game long from both the mid-range and three. Shot it with a ton of confidence while also showing athleticism on straight line takes. He had 18 points (7-13 FG), 6 rebounds, and 3 dimes.     The 6'0” scoring PG from the Georgia Stars was the other star piece of their backcourt. He shot it well from the perimeter draining an array of threes from the corners off the catch along with creating own his own. Scrappy defender and tough overall player with a thick frame who had 16 points (6-13 FG) (3-6 3PT), 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.     Davis is a lengthy 6'6” pogo stick athlete on the wing. That was evident from the j ump as he had an explosive transition jam to start the game. Won consistently on straight line takes and was nifty finishing with reverse layups. Slams out of the dunker spot and did flash a mid-range jumper. Really like the potential he showed defensively. Went for 10 points (5-11 FG) and 3 steals.     Browne is a rangy wing that showed flashes in his time as a role player for the Stars. Like what he brought defensively contesting shots, moving his feet, and making life difficult on opponents. Long strides in transition, hit a three, and was effective as a drive/kick passer going for 7 points.     Sellers was the best player for BBE 16U on Tuesday. The Kentucky 2028 point guard lived in the paint with his soft touch finishing game, crafty handles, and ability to consistently draw contact getting to the line. Has a good feel scoring in traffic with his body control at touch. Struggled shooting it from the perimeter going only 1-8 from three. Dropped 26 points (8-21 FG) (9-10 FG) and had 4 steals.     Not the best game from the state of Illinois' top player, but he still managed to produce 15 points (6-20 FG) in their loss to the Georgia Stars. Also grabbed 5 rebounds and had 3 steals. The jumper wasn't falling in this game for Pettigrew and missed some shots in the paint he usually finishes. The athleticism in the open floor showed on a couple of transition finishes along with mixing in floaters in the paint.     We saw Sati-Grier at Nike Elite 100 and he was one of the better guards we saw from the 2028 group. In their win over Alabama Fusion on Tuesday he was flat out phenomenal! He dropped 39 points (14-21 FG) (9-11 FT), 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 steals. The first thing that stands out is he is just a blur with the ball. Elite speed, shake, and creativity with the rock in his hands. Only 6'0”, but he had no problem finishing against an elite rim protector and big Fusion frontline with his touch, acrobatic finishes, and body control. Also consistently drew contact going to the line. Elite scorer who can shoot it from three hitting one off a DHO and another step back. Has playmaking instincts as well making nice decisions on the fly while also racking up steals on the defensive end which he turned into points on the other end.     Rolle looked like one of the top wings on the west coast in this game as the 6'5” 2028 prospect with good length impacted winning on straight line takes. The athleticism pops finishing above the rim, utilizing his elite second jump on the offensive glass, and being a rangy defender. Rolle had an efficient night of 12 points (5-8 FG) and 10 rebounds.     The class of 2029 power forward is playing up on the 16U level and definitely made an impact. He presents a physical frame at 6'7” mauling on the glass. Carves out space inside and has assertive post moves. He had 6 points (3-7 FG).     Okoth definitely showed why he is among the premier wing prospects in the 2028 class nationally. The 6'5” small forward is a wiry quick twitched athlete who brought a very high-motor in this game. His explosive second jump on the offensive glass was a huge reason for the impact he had in this game. Like a pogo stick out there! Was aggressive on the offensive end with baseline takes, spins out of the post, and shooting it in the mid-range. He had 20 points (8-16 FG), 5 rebounds (4 offensive), and 4 assists.     What a show Dampier put on in their loss to Why Not. The Mississippi native is the son of former NBA long time pro by the same name. Built like him too at about 6'10” with broad shoulders and a physical frame. He was absolutely dominant on the glass on both ends. Snatched rebound after rebound in one of the most impressive glass cleaning efforts I have ever seen at the EYBL level. Strong hands and high points them while using quality positioning. Offensively he showcased touch in the paint, finishing on put backs, and finishing out of the dunker spot. He had several WOW plays! Caught a lob for a dunk. Then he blocked a shot, grabbed the ball, and threw an outlet on the money the length of the court. Showed some handle pushing off the defensive glass, shook his opponent, behind the back dribble, then converting with a euro step. He had a massive two handed slam posterizing some poor defender. Finished the game with 15 points (6-8 FG), 24 rebounds (9 offensive and 15 defensive), 3 assists, and 2 blocks. One of the elite big men nationally in 2028!     Chancellor caught our attention as a strong framed lefty that finished through contact, hit in the mid-range, and proved to be a connective passer along with rock solid rebounder. Struggled shooting it from beyond the arc. Went for 10 points (5-13 FG) and 7 rebounds.
