Dampier is a traditional-style post player with obvious NBA bloodlines that showed in his measured and mature approach to both ends of the floor. His combination of size, strength and physicality led to him sealing deep post position where he showed the ability to score with footwork and finesse or with bully-ball power finishes at the rim. Dampier also flashed impressive passing ability where he found open shooters and cutters for open looks. Dampier averaged a double-double with 12.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.

No this was not a typo on the box score if you looked at it, yes Dampier Jr had 24 rebounds for Alabama Fusion today. The 6’10 center is a dominant force on the interior and he was crashing the glass hard by using his size and throwing his weight around to get early position on the interior. With 15 defensive rebounds out of a possible 36, Dampier Jr rebounded almost half of Team Why Not’s misses himself. I also love the skill flashes Dampier Jr shows with a sweet behind the back dribble 70 feet from the rim to start a transition opportunity and some nice kickout passes when double-teamed in the paint. My only complaint about Dampier Jr’s performance is his 3/7 performance from the foul line as he has the touch and potential to shoot more efficiently from the charity stripe and his size and frame should allow him to shoot 10+ free throws a game when he rebounds the basketball the way he did on Tuesday. One of the top centers in the 2028 class nationally, Dampier Jr is high on our national rankings and continues to show why he’s so well regarded nationally.

What a show Dampier put on in their loss to Why Not.  The Mississippi native is the son of former NBA long time pro by the same name.  Built like him too at about 6’10” with broad shoulders and a physical frame.  He was absolutely dominant on the glass on both ends.  Snatched rebound after rebound in one of the most impressive glass cleaning efforts I have ever seen at the EYBL level.  Strong hands and high points them while using quality positioning.  Offensively he showcased touch in the paint, finishing on put backs, and finishing out of the dunker spot.  He had several WOW plays!  Caught a lob for a dunk.  Then he blocked a shot, grabbed the ball, and threw an outlet on the money the length of the court.  Showed some handle pushing off the defensive glass, shook his opponent, behind the back dribble, then converting with a euro step.  He had a massive two handed slam posterizing some poor defender.  Finished the game with 15 points (6-8 FG), 24 rebounds (9 offensive and 15 defensive), 3 assists, and 2 blocks.  One of the elite big men nationally in 2028!

Erick is a beast. He showed why he is one of the best, if not the best, big man in the country for the class of 2028. Not only is he physically dominant, but he is also very athletic. He almost broke the rim every time he dunked it, and if he wasn’t blocking shots, he was altering, contesting, or making the shooter think twice. His touch and footwork around the rim were very impressive. The lefty big man still has room to grow, which is terrifying for everybody else.

The combination of impressive size, physicality, genes and motor gives you a very high floor and Dampier Jr is a prospect who just flat out impacts winning when he steps on the court. Getting some tough offensive rebounds to set up second chance buckets, Dampier Jr outworks a lot of other bigs in the paint. Add in some skill with his back to the basket as Dampier Jr has an excellent left hand on layups and hook shots. As one of the standout performers this weekend, Dampier Jr is showing why he’s a top ranked national player in the 2028 class.

Dampier’s father was a 16-year NBA vet and Dampier Jr is coming off a dominant 15 U season for Alabama Fusion finishing 4th in blocks and first in rebounding for his age group on the EYBL circuit. Already showcasing some intriguing offensive skill beyond just physical dominance, Dampier Jr has a moonball hook shot with his back to the basket and can make straight line attacks off the dribble as well.

7/16/25: Son of an NBA hooper, Erick Dampier Jr. is generally regarded as a Top 10 player in the entire nation. He looks all of 6-foot-9, potentially 6-foot-10. Unlike his father Dampier Jr. is moderately nimble and able to rebound outside of his area. Dampier Jr. might be the best defensive rebounder in the entire 2028 class. He does not move like a modern wing, rather a Karl Anthony-Towns-type. Fusion 15u gets him a lot of touches, both out high and around the rim. Facing the NY Rens they did not get him post feeds much, which was a waste.
