The Tune Up: Max's Day One 15u Standouts

Six prospects who stood out at the 15u level on day one of The Tune Up at Shakopee!    Gio is coming off a freshman season where he played consistent varsity minutes for a Class AAAA state tournament team. That experience has paid off as things just look easy for him at the 15u level. In a matchup against a talented [program_tooltip program_id='2075485' first='Gain' last='Elite'] squad, defenders simply had no answer for Gio. Sag off and he would pull up and torch you from three. Get up tight and he has the quickness and shifty handle to blow by you and get into the lane. He's not just a scorer either as Gio was constantly locating open shooters with kick-out passes that found them right in the hands.     [player_tooltip player_id='2821744' first='Sawyer' last='Sell'] had a strong performance in the opener for Elevate Skills. He's a long and agile 2029 wing/forward out of Park, and showed a nose for getting to the rim. Sawyer could take a defensive rebound and weave his way through defenders to go coast-to-coast and finish. Really fluid athlete who changes directions well at his size. He's a major presence on the glass, and his combination of length and mobility allowed him to cause issues on the defensive end.     Harrison had some impressive moments playing up at the 15u level with FullCourt. Going up against a team that played a high pressure style of defense, Harrison did a good job of handling the ball and getting his team into their half-court sets. Once there he was capable of stretching the floor from three with his shooting touch. Douglas made defenders pay on multiple occasions for letting him catch in space and get his shot off.     Paris was another 2030 prospect playing up at the 15u level who impressed on Thursday afternoon. Coming into high school he has a long and lanky frame for a guard, and looks far from a finished product from a physical standpoint at this stage. Even with all that length, he moves well laterally, and can change directions quickly with the ball in his hands. Paris can create space with ease off the dribble, and drained multiple pull-up jumpers throughout the game against Phelps Falcons. In a game that featured a lot of talented 2029 prospects, Paris was one of the most impressive players on the floor.     Sola helped lead his [program_tooltip program_id='2075681' first='Minnesota' last='Magic'] team to a win over PJ Hoops, running the point at a high level on Thursday afternoon. The Eden Prairie guard has good lateral quickness with a shifty handle that allows him to change directions so fast on the ball. Sola was able to stop on a dime for a couple of pull-up jumpers, or get all the way into the lane and dump it off to one of his teammates for a wide open look. Any time the ball is in his hands, Sola has the ability to go and make a play.     Mekhi was doing everything he could to bring his PJ Hoops team back into the game after falling behind early against [program_tooltip program_id='2075681' first='Minnesota' last='Magic']. He has an intriguing blend of size, skill, and finishing touch that allows him to take smaller wings into the post, or beat opposing forwards off the dribble. So tough to matchup with as he just has a nose for the basket, and rarely misses when he gets into the paint. Already played a key role last season as a freshman for the Class AA state champs.
