Going up against a strong Southwest Christian frontcourt on Wednesday, Mekhi was a key reason why Minnehaha came away with the win. As just a freshman he doesn’t shy away from contact, and plays with impressive grit and physicality down low. If he caught anywhere near the basket, Mekhi was looking to power his way to the basket, even when defended by 6’6-6’7 upperclassmen. Abner is relentless on the glass on both ends, and is did a nice job of preventing low-post touches on the defensive end.

Mekhi showcased his potential off the bench in a win for Minnehaha Academy on Monday night. If he caught the ball anywhere near the basket, he was likely finding a way to power up for two points. Even when guarded by similar size, Mekhi showed the patience to gather his balance, and the strength to go up and finish through some contact. Showed good hands catching some difficult passes in traffic as well. Abner finished with 14 points on 6-7 shooting.

– The six-foot-four-inch 2029 forward Abner has really good footwork, is a smooth, effective and efficient finisher, and has good face-up skills. Abner’s reach is good as his arms are longer than his six-foot-four-inch height already. Abner displayed some improvement shooting in July, and he’s already pretty advanced as a defender.
