Expert Analysis
Jack Pfeiffer | Prep Hoops Scout
Carter, coming off of a state title run with Minnehaha where he made a huge impact, he oftentimes looked like the best player on the floor playing up at the 15U level. His feel, skill, and smoothness is so rare for a middle schooler, as good things happened when he had the ball in his hands. He was flying all over the floor defensively, using those football instincts to intercept passes that lead to easy finishes at the other end. Cupito also showed off some improved bounce and athleticism, being able to throw down with ease.

Carter is coming off of a Class 2A State Championship with Minnehaha and was playing up at the 16U level this past weekend. Another elite point guard in this 2030 class, as he is an elite passer and scorer. He was creating so much offense for his team, showing off his vision, especially when pushing the pace in transition. He was also great in the pick and roll, making the right read just about every time. Cupito is a capable three-level scorer as well.

The 8th grade point guard wasn’t backing down against a top-10 ranked St. Paul Johnson team. He was poised handling the ball under pressure, and often was able to beat his initial defender to give Minnehaha numbers going forward. Carter put up 15 points hitting multiple threes, finishing off of steals in transition, and scoring off a nice floater in the lane. At a young age he sees the floor extremely well, doesn’t get sped up by defenders, and makes smart plays with the ball.
