After an eventful spring of our PHI staff being on the road we have updated our 2028 rankings heading into the live evaluation periods this weekend! Here we look at the Top Rising Junior Wings in the state!

[player_tooltip player_id='2531973' first='Brady' last='Pettigrew'] (Bolingbrook)

The strength of the 2028 class is definitely at the wing position. The Bolingbrook shooting guard once again holds onto a narrow lead in the race for #1 with Kelly. This spring in the Nike EYBL with Brad Beal Elite Pettigrew averaged 23.6 points on 47 percent shooting along with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals a game. Such a free and easy athlete that makes it look easy at times scoring with feathery jumpers getting elevation off the floor along with winning on straight line takes getting to the cup for explosive finishes. Elite high-major prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='2531981' first='Cole' last='Kelly'] (Neuqua Valley)

Kelly had a great spring with [program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last=''] playing up on the 17U level proving to be one of the best players regardless of class on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. Lefty small forward has such an advanced feel for the game being able to make high level reads as a passer on the move along with finding guys in the half court with pin point dishes. Good pace and can score effectively from all three levels. Elite shot maker with a sweet lefty stroke that looks like its going in every time the ball leaves his hand. Gets downhill, can post up, and rebounds well for a wing being able to push off the boards.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125627' first='Ethan' last='Vahl'] (Oswego)

Vahl is a smooth combo guard that proved to be effective in the spring playing both on and off the ball for [program_tooltip program_id='2078449' first='Meanstreets' last=''] 16U where he didn't score as much as he does with his high school team, but showed he could also dish the rock stuffing the stat sheet for 4.3 points, 6.8 assists, 5.9 rebounds, and 2 steals a game. We know he can score when the featured scorer with slick handles.

[player_tooltip player_id='2542412' first='Chase' last='Kasten'] (Normal Community)

Kasten has been a mainstay in the top 5 overall in our last several updates. The Normal wing has established himself among the premier wings in the class with his skilled offensive game. Lights out perimeter shot maker that can hit them both off the catch and creating on his own. Smooth ball handler that is a connective passer and secondary playmaker. Look for a monster June from Kasten as one of the best players in central Illinois.

[player_tooltip player_id='2540198' first='Terrence' last='Davis'] (Libertyville)

Libertyville guard lit up Great Lakes Finals with All-In Athletics showing significant growth from the high school season. His defense and passing have taken considerable jumps since we last saw him. Defensively he was an absolute force defending both on and off the ball. So many steals in the two games we saw which led to points on the other end. Got in passing lanes cutting passes for an array of transition dunks. Smooth handling weaving through defenders going coast to coast off the defensive glass. Blocked multiple jumpers with his anticipation. On the offensive end his crisp handles set up drives getting in the paint for athletic finishes. The passing was a real bright spot for Davis. Set others up in the half court with his passing off live dribbles finding shooters, cutters, and his big man. Long outlet passes on the money.

[player_tooltip player_id='2532003' first='Joey' last='Jakstys'] (Yorkville)

Jakstys went beast mode at Chi-Town Tip Off which propelled him back into the top 10. Plus athlete that combines that with skill and size on the wing. Clean looking stroke from three, but it really was his ability to attack with his long strides and variety of finishing moves that caught our attention. Won his one on one matchup and then would convert in the paint seemingly at will. Active rebounder and showcased the lateral quickness needed on the defensive end along with length. Monster showing for him!

[player_tooltip player_id='2538631' first='Grant' last='Smith'] (Lyons)

Smith had an outstanding spring with [program_tooltip program_id='2078449' first='Meanstreets' last='']! The consistent, tough, and skilled combo forward posted 13 points and 4.5 rebounds on 48.8 percent shooting from the field along with 35 percent from three. Smith can play inside and out. Plus athlete with handles and a clean shot off the catch. Does a nice job finishing in the paint along with being an impactful defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194655' first='Braydon' last='Porter'] (Yorkville)

Physcially built wing that brings big time athleticism especially in transition to the table. At his best with a head of steam behind him getting downhill to the rim for scores and in the open floor. Highlight reel player playing above the rim!

[player_tooltip player_id='2751060' first='Brady' last='Jones'] (Metamora)

This Metamora small forward presents strength and skill on the perimeter. Plus shooter from three off the catch. He is also effective getting in the mid-range. Flashes to the middle off the paint for short jumpers. Boxes out on rebounds and walls up defensively. Tough glue guy that will be a D1 player with his skill and intangibles.

[player_tooltip player_id='2474926' first='Kayden' last='Turner'] (Peoria)

Turner continues to move his way up the board. Three and D wing that can shoot it from deep with a clean looking stroke along with stepping in to knock down mid-range shots. Defends multiple positions with his size, strength, and length.
