Wheaton North Doubles Up Morton

The Mustangs were another squad during today's games that were a bit short handed from their full roster. 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2439344' first='Chas' last='Ontiveros'] took on most of the responsibility from an offensive standpoint. He operated as the primary point for some of the game and helped facilitate much needed scoring. Got into the paint consistently to draw help and either score it himself or make the necessary dish offs. Showed some vertical around the rim as well with plus wingspan. Wheaton North's 6'5 2027 PF [player_tooltip player_id='2125586' first='Ben' last='Gillmar'] was a work horse down low for the Falcons. He runs the floor with good pace and spacing as the team's main big and works a lot of disciplinary action in the paint during ½ court setting. He helped lead team to a 3-0 finish in today's games.

Glenbard North Too Much For Plainfield North

[player_tooltip player_id='2455373' first='Oturo' last='Redento'] put on a clinic during team's first game of the day. Played positionless throughout and showed why he's a top 10 player in Illinois. Challenge to stay in front of with the ball. Pushed it after d boarding to initiate break with head on a swivel to see the floor. Initiated contact numerous times on his way to the rim while also stepping back from beyond the perimeter to hit shots. Didn't really matter the scenario of defense he was playing against as he was going to get to his spots and make the most of opportunity. A big mis match creator with true size at the wing spot. The second punch to the Panther's squad was another 2027 in [player_tooltip player_id='2125660' first='Lamari' last='Carpenter']. Saw Carpenter for the first time during our Fall showcase last year and he continued to impress today. Another arguably top 10 2027 in Illinois for good reason. There wasn't much the defense did that stopped him off the dribble. His ability to create separation off the bounce is elite. Athletically he was a notch above everyone with a couple clean swats while skying for boards. Redento and Carpenter will be tough outs this year as they were today with beating all 3 teams they faced by 30+.

Andrew Sneaks By Huntley

One of the more competitive and evenly balanced games that was played today at the shootout. The bigs matchup between Huntley's 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2532325' first='Isaiah' last='Onu'] and Andrew's 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2839876' first='Ryan' last='Dinnon'] or 2029 [player_tooltip player_id='2921082' first='Titus' last='Payton'] was a fun one to watch in the paint. Onu showed versatility with a steal and finish on the other end while also running the ahead of the defense to slam home a 2 handed dunk on the break. He uses his body to his strength to battle underneath. On the other side of the ball were Payton and Dinnon. I saw Payton at our freshman camp last fall and he is making strides as a passer while continuing to gain more coordination on both ends. He possesses great feel at the power forward spot while seeing the floor at an above average rate. Really impressed with his continued upside. The player of the game however goes to Dinnon. Ryan's footwork in the paint to catch on the low block or low hash and make a move was top notch vs same sized opponent. Made an excellent turn on the block over weak side shoulder for soft touch baby hook. Also scored it off of dribble drive while then making a spin move for soft touch lay in and stretched the floor multiple times for spot up 3's.
