Cogan may technically come in at number 6 in this latest update of the rankings, but that is absolutely not an insult he's not "Top Five" because the truth is the Class of 2029 is so incredibly deep that the elite goes further than just "5". The TOP run-and-jump athlete in the entire class, you could immediately count on not only high-flying transition dunks and blocks from the rising sophomore but night-in and night-out, great effort and motor as well. He already averaged 10.9 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks for Grant in 2025-26 and look for those numbers to increase even more as he continues to refine his perimeter skills this spring/summer with [program_tooltip program_id='3566315' first='PortlandBoyz' last='Elite'].

Another example of a player in the second five that could easily be ranked near the top is Ainsworth, who came into Marshfield with a lot of fanfare as a true freshman and he totally delivered. The lefty guard is super quick and shifty with his moves, has a devastating pull-up jumper, and already finishes at the rim and as he develops more strength, he'll be even more of a problem than he already is. He earned his league's player of the year and with Marshfield projected to be arguably the #1 team next season, he's looking to lead them to the state tournament.

While he's largely been known as the younger brother of Terrence Hill - which is to be expected considering how much of a legend he was at Roosevelt - TyVelle is already making a name for himself as a Roughrider. Thrown into the fire as a true freshman, he settled in and averaged 11.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.5 assists while showcasing his smooth lefty jumper and great feel for the game. More will be expected from the rising sophomore in 2026-27 but if there's anyone up to the challenge, it will be Hill who's been doing it all for the Roughriders this June.

Representation of the Class of 2029 in the Top Ten also comes from further down I-5 in the state and Miller is a prime example. The athletic guard shone as a true freshman at South Medford, averaging 10.5 points and 3.2 rebounds on a balanced Panthers squad. He's since transferred to West Albany where he's already establishing himself as a prime scoring option by putting up some huge numbers.

In addition to immediate on-court production, one of the key measures used in player rankings is collegiate potential and there's no question Frye has a ton of the latter. So while the rising sophomore may have played JV last season at West Linn, it's about what to come from the big man who has shown great signs of improvement this spring with [program_tooltip program_id='2248856' first='Players' last='Only'] and this summer with the West Linn varsity. Obviously the genetics are there (he's the son of former Blazer Channing Frye) but Frye runs the floor, works hard on and off the court, and is continuing to develop offensively, looking better each time we've seen him play.
