PureFocus NW Big Stage – Top Performers (II)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The PureFocus NW Big Stage took place last week on Tuesday and Wednesday at multiple sites on the west side of the Portland Metro area and we had the opportunity to drop by and take in some action. The rising junior was near unstoppable getting to the basket for buckets and was smooth in the mid-range, hitting a couple of threes as well. In a win over Central Valley, the rising sophomore went to that well early and often and when the defense adjusted, he simply went to the hole and either converted or got fouled in the process. The lefty showed good patience in knowing when to attack or move the basketball to get teammates involved. Good quickness off the dribble from the rising sophomore and he consistently made good decisions with the ball both in the halfcourt and in transition. The rising junior forward immediately caught our eye with his motor and nose for the ball as he endlessly crashed the boards on both ends of the floor. His defense was also solid and while those parts of his game appear to be ahead of his offense at this point, he has the size and athleticism to work with to improve. In Willamette's win over South Salem, he capably stationed himself at the top of the zone, staying ready for catch, turnaround, and shoot opportunities and showing off that aforementioned smooth shot multiple times with his range extended past the three-point line as well. He was absolutely a monster on the glass on both ends, keeping the ball alive with tips even if he wasn't able to secure the ball himself - dare we say it was a little Dennis Rodman-like. The rising senior guard plays a hard-nosed defensive-oriented style, willing to run the offense but also make tough drives to the basket while also being capable of knocking down open shots. He finished with 11 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
