Bigs that have a smooth shooting stroke from the outside fit right into today’s game and Salter fits that mold. In Willamette’s win over South Salem, he capably stationed himself at the top of the zone, staying ready for catch, turnaround, and shoot opportunities and showing off that aforementioned smooth shot multiple times with his range extended past the three-point line as well. He was solid on the boards and his length was effective protecting the rim as he finished with 11 points and 8 rebounds.
Marshfield has arguably the youngest core of talented young players at the 4A level. Key among those is Salter, who had a great year shooting the ball & helped the Pirates overcome injuries that derailed a promising season. As he continues to get stronger, look for his recruitment to heat up, big wins that can really shoot are always popular with college coaches.
