Shoe Circuit Check-In: New England's Top Performers

It's time for a shoe circuit check-in. The Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, and Puma circuits are some of the best competition you can find in the club basketball space. Each of them have some New England teams competing in them.   Below are 7 players who are lighting up the shoe circuits.    Pemberton has been on a total tear this AAU season and is racking up the offers as a result. For a 6-foot guard, the Masters Academy International junior has one of the most effective pull-up jumper games you'll see. He's able to get to his spots in the mid range and elevate for middies effortlessly, but he can also take contact quite effectively at the rim and has a knack for finishing in traffic. Perhaps most impressive is that Pemberton gives up nothing on the defensive end and actually makes plays quite consistently—he's averaging over 2 steals a game while carrying a large offensive load. Tennessee is his latest offer, but more will probably come.     White Jr. isn't playing in the highest level Nike league (he plays for NJ Scholars in the EYCL), but he has been absolutely ridiculous this spring. The 5-foot-11 guard is averaging 26.5 points, 5.7 assists, and 3 steals while barely turning the ball over and shooting 58/50/92 from the field, 3 point range, and FT line (!!!!). Sure, he's undersized, but he's impossible to keep out of the paint and is beyond impressive as a decision-maker. White Jr. could certainly play at a higher level, but he's dominating the EYCL right now and is going to get scholarship looks as a result. The quickness, athleticism, skill level and IQ are out of this world.     Hill's ascension is in full force. In only 28.9 minutes per game, the New Bedford freshman is averaging 17.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.4 blocks, and is shooting 37% from three for Expressions. The 6-foot-5 wing/forward has gotten so much tougher and stronger in the past year—playing a big role in MIAA D1 against juniors and seniors helps—but he also continues to become more controlled and skilled offensively. Hill has an extremely bright future ahead and hasn't even reclassed yet. Potential is through the roof.     Cantave has been awesome for BABC this spring. He's averaging 13.3 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.9 steals—but most impressive are his 51% and 38% numbers from the field and three-point range respectively. The St. George's School sophomore has always been a great rim attacker and finisher with contact, but the lefty's stroke is improving and he's becoming a knock-down shooter from three. His efficiency is excellent, and I really appreciate how he doesn't do things outside of his ability. Cantave is a super smart player who can play with or without the ball and is as solid as it gets.     Ndong has been a major bright spot for the Magic this season and has been one of the spring's biggest stock risers. The 6-foot-9 forward is under-developed physically and could certainly put on some weight, but he moves extremely well for his size and has a wonderful stroke from three-point range. He can make shots on the move, too, and he can attack closeouts once the defense starts overplaying him. He's the Magic's 5th leading scorer but is doing it efficiently with 49% shooting and 45% from three. Ndong is ready for a major break out with Newman this coming season.     Joyner has been phenomenal for a Team New England squad that is lighting up the Pro16 circuit this spring. The 5-foot-11 point guard is shooting the ball well from three and scoring at a high rate, but it's his floor general capabilities that make him really intriguing. Nobody can speed him up with pressure and he has a knack for making under control decisions in the paint when the defense collapses on him. He's obviously undersized, but he has picked up some scholarship offers and is consistently showing that his size doesn't limit his production.     Callahan is as solid as it gets. The 6-foot-4 guard plugs every single hole on both ends of the floor for the Magic. He's shooting a ridiculous 68% from the field while being the third leading scorer on his squad, and it's because of his ability to make simple plays on the offensive end. He's a phenomenal cutter, an excellent finisher at the rim, and a controlled passer once he gets two feet in the paint (2:1 assist to turnover ration). The offers are starting to roll in for Callahan, who will be an awesome piece for a scholarship program because of his versatility and do-it-all mentality.
