Now, the 6-foot-5 wing (who has recently put on some weight and strength) will have an opportunity to prove his ability at a way higher level with Vermont Academy. He'll walk into the squad as an effective spacer/shooter and a versatile defender, and he should be an important piece to what they do next year.

Rodrigues comes from Attleboro High School where he was one of the more dominant forces in MIAA basketball. At Suffield Academy next season, the 6-foot-4 wing will have an opportunity to improve his feel for the game and outside shooting ability, both of which should help him get more scholarship looks. Rodrigues is a phenomenal vertical athlete with tons of strength, and reps at Suffield will help him quickly learn how to play at a higher level.

Taku is ridiculously intriguing. The 6-foot-6 freshman is extremely strong for his size, but he also has solid vertical athleticism and really good coordination and hands. He can make shots from the outside, he can drive closeouts, and he has good footwork and feel at the rim (an impressive handle, too, for his size and age). Taku was a standout for Malden Catholic this past season, and I could see him making an immediate impact next year for a Tabor squad that has some opening for additional playmakers and scorers. I'm extremely high on Taku and think this level will be a perfect fit for him—excited to see his production this year.

Cormier just finished his time at Newburyport and was fairly dominant at that level, but the 6-foot-8 forward is going to improve so much this coming year at Proctor. Though he has solid size and strength and can finish with both hands near the rim effectively, he can also make shots from the outside and has an intriguing handle for his size. He needs to improve his foot speed and vertical athleticism, but he should be able to impact things immediately at Proctor this season and will potentially get some scholarship looks.

Higgins is going to turn LOTS of heads at Newman next season. With tons of meaningful players graduating this year, the 6-foot-9 forward from Brewer, ME, is primed to carve out a role as a versatile, two-way forward who can guard on the perimeter and in the paint and can play with or without the ball offensively. He can shoot it a bit from the outside (his touch on floaters in the paint is promising for the trajectory of his three-point shot), but he also does a really good job attacking closeouts and handling the ball in small spaces. He can pass, too, and has a knack for making simple, winning plays—he pesters the offensive glass relentlessly and is a smart cutter. I'm quite high on Higgins and can't wait to see him compete at this level.

Poage in brimming with potential. The 6-foot-7 forward is extremely skinny, but he moves well for his size and has better guard skills than you'd think given his age and how his body looks. He can shoot it from three and the mid range, he can attack closeouts when bigger players are defending him, and he can finish with touch around the hoop. Poage is nowhere near a finished product, but he'll go to Rivers as an incoming freshman and will have TONS of time to figure it all out.

The NEPSAC is the most competitive basketball league from top-to-bottom in New England, and one of the more competitive high school basketball leagues in the entire country. Every year, dozens of kids transfer (and often reclass) to these prep schools after standout performances at their public schools.
