The Centennial State Cup had some big-time performers that we've already gotten eyes on this past year/to begin grassroots season, and players that we got to see for the first time this grassroots season. There have been changes from the high school season, so it was great to see them in this setting. Here are 5 performances that caught our attention.

[player_tooltip player_id='2843751' first='Everett' last='Johnson'] is a player who stood out for me simply because he brought something that you do not see a ton of at events: a willing passer. Johnson's court awareness stood out as he was pushing the pace, passing teammates into open baskets, and handling ball pressure well. He's a guard who makes the extra pass and teammates look comfortable when he has the ball in his hands. He also had his moments where he looked to score and had plenty of left-hand finishes in traffic, got to his spots in the middle of the defense, and kept the offense flowing. He's a new name to know for me that I enjoyed watching on the weekend.

Hulse is a player who brought energy and effort all weekend for Mountain Stars, and that play turns into contagious runs that open up the game for his teammates. He's very active defensively as he has good size and length and uses it on that end of the floor. Hulse is a physical defender who presses up on opponents. He moves well and is fluid, and that allows him to step onto guards at times as well. Offensively, he fills in gaps and doesn't specialize in one specific area, which is why he could be one of the more versatile players in this class with high two-way upside. Curious to see how he looks by summer's end.

This is our first time getting eyes on Paswater, and we liked his ability to light it up as a floor spacer. Once he got his feet set, he was knocking shots down. He squares his body and lets it fly, and his teammates found him often. He had a few flurry moments where he knocked down multiple shots in a row in different games. Paswater is a microwave scorer who we want to see more of, and was a big reason that RTS Choice had a successful weekend. He's now on our watch list of players to keep an eye on.

Van Noy had a very successful weekend at the Centennial State Cup for the Wildcats Basketball and was a big part of them being undefeated on the weekend. He filed it up and checked off many boxes for them. He consistently hit shots, got in a rhythm from deep in multiple games, and could not be denied from getting to his spots. He cleared one side out on rims and dissected the defense with dribble drives. There were also moments when he was the team's catalyst as he kept the ball moving and took what the defense gave him. Van Noy is a natural scorer who found a way to get the ball in the rim. He came off screens, created for himself off the dribble, and was a relentless downhill attacker. He has a very balanced game and appears to be a very solid prospect who we want to know more about. Big weekend for him.

Dielli is a player who we've never written about, so it's a new name that stood out for us on the weekend. He's a forward who did the little things that led to wins. He's a stretch big man who sets screens. He picked and popped, rolled to the basket, and allowed himself to be a scoring option. He put his body on bigger players to create leverage, defending well, and plays the passing lanes. He had plenty of steals that led to transition baskets and made outlet passes off of rebounds. He wants to get the ball down the floor quickly, and the team plays faster when he's on the floor. He was a spark in games and had some big time finish through contact plays. Liked what I saw from him.
