Lavonte showed why he was already a starter for Madison Memorial at the state tournament with a pair of strong performances on Saturday. He helped lead his AyoDos Elite 15u team to a win over LVL National [program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'], followed up by a 38 point performance in a loss to [program_tooltip program_id='2440507' first='Davis' last='Brothers Elite']. The long and athletic wing showcased his above the rim finishing ability, was dropping dimes off the drive to his slashing teammates, and was hitting some tough pull-up jumpers. Has all the tools to be one of the top 2029 prospects in Wisconsin.

Another 2029 standout on Saturday was [player_tooltip player_id='2413941' first='Fitz' last='McDermott'] of [program_tooltip program_id='2078449' first='Meanstreets' last=''] EYCL. He led his team to a win over [program_tooltip program_id='2440507' first='Davis' last='Brothers Elite'] in one of the early morning games, flashing three level scoring ability. The 6'2 guard was so smooth getting to his spots off the dribble, and was simply taking whatever the defense gave him. He could hit a catch-and-shoot three, could get to his mid-range jumper off limited dribbles, or could use his length to extend and finish at the rim. Well rounded guard with some nice potential moving forward.

I really like the way that Cayden goes out and competes every time I see him play. Defensively he's tenacious pressuring the ball, and was on the verge of a few 5 second calls in the game I watched. He's always going to be the first one on the floor for a loose ball anywhere in his area. Offensively he's a true floor general who's a vocal presence on the floor for his team. He gets them into their sets, handles it well under pressure, and delivers accurate passes when he has an open teammate.

Amarion showed why he's so hardly regarded in Illinois' 2028 class with a big time performance in a comeback win for [program_tooltip program_id='2452456' first='Mac' last='Irvin Fire']. He's already such an explosive athlete, and it's scary to think what two more years of high school + a year in a college weight room could do to him. Amarion flew to the basket for three dunks, and showcased impressive body control for a number of acrobatic lay-ups in traffic. Able to just hang in the air and find ways to score over taller players. The 2028 guard added in some pull-up jumpers with a few drive-and-kick assists to help his team come away with the win.

Mekhi was playing up at the 17u level, and had a monster performance in a win for Blueprint Hoops. The lightning quick guard was getting to the rim just about anytime he wanted to, and was a walking bucket in transition. He just seemed to weave in and out of defenders effortlessly, and could glide to the rim to finish with either hand. A quick first step allowed him to blow by defenders in the half-court, and he flashed some drive-and-dish ability to set up his teammates. Impressive stuff from the 2028 guard.

Kyle had some nice moments in the 8am win for Bardo Basketball on Saturday. At 6'4 he's an explosive athlete who excelled as a rebounder for his team. He was able to tip out missed shots to keep possessions alive for his team on offense, and defensively he was putting a body on a man and then attacking the ball off the rim to secure it for his team. Has the handle to start the break on his own, or could sprint the floor hard to beat opposing bigs up the floor in transition. Attacked the rim hard with some straight line drives.

Darrius was one of the most entertaining players to watch yesterday for Brad Beal Elite. Offensively he's extremely shifty on the ball, and was getting into the lane to drop dimes to his teammates. With all of the weapons around him, Hawkins excels at getting everyone their share of open looks in the half-court. He's just as fun to watch defensively where he was relentless pressuring opposing point guards. Anytime his team scored, it was like Darrius was trying to get the ball back as soon as possible. So quick laterally with the fight to get over the top of screens out on the perimeter.
