About Mekhi

Young put on a show against Fenwick on Sunday. The wiry point guard was so fast with the ball drawing up residency in the paint with how much time he spent there. Coast to coast takes, sweeping layups, and floaters for days. Crossed his man setting up his jumper. Snake dribbles for 15 foot shots. Knocked in a corner three. Slick passer especially in the pick/roll. Pesky defender.

Mekhi was playing up at the 17u level, and had a monster performance in a win for Blueprint Hoops. The lightning quick guard was getting to the rim just about anytime he wanted to, and was a walking bucket in transition. He just seemed to weave in and out of defenders effortlessly, and could glide to the rim to finish with either hand. A quick first step allowed him to blow by defenders in the half-court, and he flashed some drive-and-dish ability to set up his teammates. Impressive stuff from the 2028 guard.

He may not have stuffed the stat sheet when watching him. But the upside in this 2028 guard is definitely there. He still has plenty of room to grow and is already very lengthy. He’s got great footwork and ball-control, and made some great passes through tight windows in this contest.
