The biggest jump most of the time in a prospect from an evaluation standpoint comes between their sophomore and junior seasons! Here we examine point guard prospects in 2028 that we believe are primed to make a big leap this upcoming season!

[player_tooltip player_id='2540198' first='Terrence' last='Davis'] (Libertyville)

Davis is already a top 10 prospect, but this is a prospect that we believe most high school fans are not as familiar with as he was their second option and missed the second half of last season. His explosiveness off the bounce and speed with the ball in his hand has jumped off the floor when we saw him play this summer. Improved passing instincts and is a dynamic shot creator. Upside as a defender as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2842573' first='Blake' last='Choice'] (DePaul Prep)

Choice will be going from role player to the man at DePaul Prep this season. He has great positional size as a combo guard who will look to score more this year which he showed in June. Gets to his spots, rises up over the defense, and is adept at finishing in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id='2839941' first='Noah' last='VanTholen'] (Riverside Brookfield)

VanTholen has quality size as a lead guard with height and strength. Instincts for the game as a heady lead guard that sees over the defense making passes on the money. Can win on straight line takes and has the potential to be a solid shooter from three. Next star at RB!

[player_tooltip player_id='2879381' first='Mekhi' last='Young'] (Thornwood)

Young was super impressive when we saw him in June and July. Smaller guard who is not afraid to take it in among the trees for scores while also being a solid pull up shooter. Slick ball handler that will be a key piece on a Thornwood team primed to make some noise!

[player_tooltip player_id='2816850' first='Davuan' last='Bates'] (De La Salle)

Bates was consistent all spring and summer with Geek Squad. The athletic combo guard just has a great feel for scoring from multiple levels utilizing his speed and burst getting to the cup in the half court and transition. High level athlete with tight handles that is primed to have a big year for the Meteors.

[player_tooltip player_id='2877501' first='Malik' last='Horton'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2844431' first='Dream' last='Horton'] (Curie)

The Horton guards at Curie are next up for the CPS power. The point guard pair will share ball handling duties along with playing well off each other as shooters. Tenacious defenders at the point of attack and they just win!

[player_tooltip player_id='2381426' first='Trent' last='Williams'] (OPRF)

Williams emerged on the PHC this spring and we expect him to make noise as the go to player for OPRF. Looked at early in his career more as a defensive guard he has taken his offensive skill set to new heights with a plethora of big scoring games over the summer with his shooting and getting to the foul line in bunches.

[player_tooltip player_id='2963414' first='Stephen' last='Dixon'] (De La Salle)

Dixon is the other De La Salle guard who is trending in the right direction and we think can make a big jump this year for the Meteors. Coming off a strong June he has helium heading into the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2403305' first='Michael' last='Schaechter'] (Vernon Hills)

One of the better passing lead guards in this class Schaechter makes those around him better. More than just a distributor as he can get his own with the long ball and underrated athleticism off the bounce.
