Midwest Warmups: 2027 And 2028 Hybrid Wings

The UW Sports Factory hosted teams from across the Midwest this past Saturday and Sunday. I took in games from the 15U, 16U, and 17U divisions. In this article we will take a look at some of the top wings in the class of 2027 and 2028 that provided valuable across the board.    Currently would slot into a 3 or 4 man at next level depending upon need. Brings consistent energy and effort on both ends. Capable handler at the wing spot. Attacks baseline or middle with strong finishes through traffic or against contact. Makes smart off-ball reads moving into openings efficiently. Adds defensive value with activity in passing lands and utilizing length accordingly. Overall a disciplined glue guy who will do the little things correctly and will impact winning plays by bringing versality.     A 3 or 4 man that can get down hill in a hurry in attack mode. Has the tenacity to go through contact and finish plays or draw fouls and get to stripe. Pushes the ball in transition and makes smart reads to drive and kick once drawing extra defenders. Moves with a purpose off the ball offensively. Has a strong blend of perimeter and interior tools to utilize. Overall will stretch the floor and present a strong presence on both sides of the ball.     Can be slotted in as a swing man on the wing or a small forward stretch 4 dependent upon program need. Has ability to space the floor and knock down perimeter shots with confidence. Is comfortable moving without the ball to come off screens for catch and shoot opportunities. Will attack the lane to finish against more size. Adds a layer of value with a plus frame. Overall a reliable wing that can stretch the defense while remaining balanced and even keeled on both sides.     A small forward at the next level that will bring some ability to create off the bounce and utilize wing span on both sides. Rebounding wise sticks around the glass to read misses accordingly. IQ was shown by making a smart tip back pass off an offensive rebound to re-start offense. Finished through contact a couple times as well. Upside continues to be here.     Out of all the 2027's I saw this weekend, Brinager was my top gun. His athletic mobility, motor, and size are what stuck out the most while playing against other talented teams through both days. There was a sequence in the second half of the first game on Saturday morning that he scored 7 points in under a minute. Easily finished with a double double. The motor does not stop. Scoring wise he will move off the ball to open spaces to retrieve and convert, is successful on reverse layups, went left off the bounce and faded away with a high arcer that splashed, and hit big time shots throughout. Uses length effectively on both ends. Stock will continue to rise.     A high motor wing that brings defensive versatility and slashing ability. A true swingman at the next level with more effectiveness on a wing spot that brings length. Two-way impact player that gets it done on both sides of the ball. Disrupts drives and can generate turnovers. Runs the floor filling lanes accordingly to create options. Will attack from diverse angles and get through traffic to finish. Makes smart movements off BLOBS with screen and flash actions. Projects well at the next level.     A 2028 that played up a notch this past weekend on 17U squad and didn't skip a beat. Has a balanced inside and out scoring presence. Knocked down a couple catch and shoot 3's within flow while also finishing effectively on baseline drives at the rim. Showed good feel in transition running the break. Projected 3 at a wing spot that should be on college coaches' radars.
