It seems hard to believe that we are already a month into the grassroots grind. The high school season is squarely in the rearview mirror and we are just a couple of weekends away from the first live evaluation period which will take place May 15th-17th. However, before we turn the calendar from April to May we want to take a moment and highlight some of the prospects that have made noise across various events so far this spring. Here are eight stock-risers that have caught our attention over the last few weekends.

There was no shortage of talent in the Evansville Bosse backcourt this season. However, that did not stop Barnes from breaking through and contributing consistently as a sophomore. The explosive 5'10" playmaker has carried over his strong play into the spring with WeDifferent 812. Barnes has shown the ability to light it up from beyond the arc this spring while also serving as a very disruptive on-ball defender in the backcourt.

Decatur Central High School broke through to the Class 4A South Semi-State this season. They featured a pair of senior forwards and a very talented backcourt trio that will return next year. However, when talking to opposing coaches, it is Colbert Jr.'s name that comes up consistently. The lightning quick, playmaking point guard was the catalyst for a lot of their success and that has carried over into the spring with Progeny 17u. He is one that college programs should look at this coming weekend at the Run N Slam.

You won't find many, if any, bigger bodies in Indiana's Class of 2029 right now than Countryman. The 6'9" center had a strong showing for a very talented [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] 15u team at Prep Hoops The Stage a couple of weekends ago. He is a capable scorer around the basket, but really excels right now as a rim protector. Countryman blocks a lot of shots but disrupts/changes even more. There is a lot to like about the young big man from Guerin Catholic.

Fetz is one of the best pure scorers in Indiana's Class of 2028 but has flown a bit under-the-radar to this point. The talented 6'1" guard has already turned in some huge scoring performances this spring with [program_tooltip program_id='2383637' first='Summit' last='City Elite'] - Vance 16u. He is a good shooter from beyond the arc, but is really gifted and attacking the basket and scoring at the end of his drives. Fetz will be attending Blackford High School as a junior after spending his first two seasons at Mississinewa.

Hudson has been a big part of [program_tooltip program_id='2076166' first='Grand' last='Park Premier'] 16u's strong start to the spring. He has shown off his true combo guard skills having had some big scoring performances mixed in with strong showings as a playmaker. The 6'1" guard from Eastern High School is highly skilled both as a shooter and as a passer. Look for him to continue to solidify himself as one of the top all-around guards in Indiana's Class of 2028.

A very intriguing big man in the Class of 2027, Kanyinda has turned some heads early on this spring and has even come up in discussions with a couple of college coaches. The 6'8" center from Kokomo High School has the requisite size, length, and mobility to project as a two-way big man. He is still raw, but the skill set is developing and he is learning how to play with improvement to show for his hard work each time out. Kanyinda is playing with Progeny 17u this spring and summer.

Kennedy came on strong late in the season for Cathedral and ended up playing a big role in their Class 3A State Championship win as a freshman. The explosive 5'11" playmaking point guard has had a great start to the spring as well playing with Progeny UAA 15u. He is really solidifying himself as one of the top guards in Indiana's Class of 2029. We look forward to evaluating him further at the Run N Slam to see exactly where he stacks up in the current freshman class.

We've been high on McKain here at Prep Hoops Indiana since his freshman season. The consistent contributor checks all of the boxes you could want on the perimeter in terms of athletic and physical tools. McKain, a 6'3" wing, has a lot of upside as a defender and is an excellent right hand driver. His ability to score off of the bounce, and serve as a secondary playmaker, makes him an intriguing small college prospect. He is one to watch for Team Tradition 17u.
