One of the top rising stars in the in-state 2027 class who participated in the Prep Hoops Indiana Expo was Devin Colbert Jr Devin Colbert Jr 5'9" | PG Decatur Central | 2027 State IN . out of Decatur High School. Although he is on the shorter end, this guy is a quick playmaker who can push the pace very well. He was really active on the defensive end of the floor and had a few steals that led to scoring opportunities. A guard who can do a bit of everything on the floor.

Devin Colbert was my favorite player to watch. Colbert is on the short side, but of everyone who made my list I’m not sure anybody played with more effort. Very quick feet, can dribble-drive and score under the rim. He has very quick hands to steal passes and kick the ball out to open men on the perimeter. Swished a couple of great stepback fadeaway jumpers look easy. Plays much bigger than his size would indicate.

Colbert Jr. may be one of the smaller guards in attendance, but he is also among the most fearless. The 5’8″ explosive playmaker is a relentless driver and does such a good job of finishing against size when he gets to the rim. He uses a variety of dribble moves to attack the paint and is a creative finisher. The senior point guard from Decatur Central High School is always going to set the pace when he has the ball in his hands. Intriguing prospect to follow this season.

True point guard that balances his offensive production between scoring and facilitating. Scrappy defender that has the ability to be a game changer on that side of the floor.

Decatur Central High School broke through to the Class 4A South Semi-State this season. They featured a pair of senior forwards and a very talented backcourt trio that will return next year. However, when talking to opposing coaches, it is Colbert Jr.’s name that comes up consistently. The lightning quick, playmaking point guard was the catalyst for a lot of their success and that has carried over into the spring with Progeny 17u. He is one that college programs should look at this coming weekend at the Run N Slam.

Lightning quick Junior point guard out of Decatur Central was electric in transition. Hard nosed, aggressive defender that anticipates the ball really well. Offensively, he’s a true pass first point guard that looks to get others involved. Doesn’t force the issue, he plays fast, but under control. Capable scorer that can get in the lane and finish in a variety of different ways. His jump shot is a work in progress, but is able to get seperation and gets good elevation when he rises up over defenders.

An explosive, smaller guard for Decatur Central, Colbert Jr. put together an excellent performance on Saturday as the Hawks defeated Terre Haute South 89-55. Colbert Jr. scored 18 points to go along with 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. He also had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and steals in their season-opening win over Tri-West.
