2027 Prospect Rankings Update: The Small Forwards

Colleges need taller players at the three that are skilled and/or athletic with length and/or active smart players. You are going to see that there are six foot guards that have scored 20 a game are not going to be recruited as well as threes, fours and fives that are averaging nine or ten points a game. That is how college prospects work, there are only so many guards that colleges can take, but they need a lot of size. And size develops later. So as we start talking forwards and bigs, these are guys that are going to slide past the guards as they develop. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 2027 class of threes already has a pair of D1 commits with [player_tooltip player_id='2126094' first='Ty' last='Schlagel'] going to Nebraska and [player_tooltip player_id='2126450' first='Gavin' last='Walter'] committed to Northern Iowa. UNI has a mostly new staff (but there are hold overs) so where that stands with Walter will be determined at some point, but he is a D1 committed player. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>That leaves the top players available for the schools Stars with the athletic, skilled and sized [player_tooltip player_id='2126115' first='Vincent' last='Cronin'] who I think is a D1 level talent. You have [player_tooltip player_id='2126464' first='Gavyn' last='Lorenson'] who has D2 offers and will be a top prospect. You have [player_tooltip player_id='2412724' first='Dre' last='Collins'] who could play college basketball but is a really good football prospect too. Next is [player_tooltip player_id='2877064' first='Carter' last='Brown'] from Duluth. This young man is explosive, agile, and skilled. I really liked his prospect video and he is coming off of a 28 point, 12/13 rebound a game season. Then you have [player_tooltip player_id='2575638' first='Izayah' last='Cook'] who has a world of potential but he didn't play much this season at Wayzata.
