The potential of this young man is off the charts. he is truly a wing in the way he plays the game and at 6’7 with length and explosion, Brown has scholarship level ability. He is a decent to good shooter of the ball at the perimeter although it was a tougher day Saturday shooting, which was fine because Brown just went at the rim for a continual run of highlights. His hidden talent (at a high level as a wing, not in high school numbers) is his rebounding ability. Brown is a very good rebounder.

Carter was also a major stock riser on Saturday, catching the eyes of several scouts in attendance. The 6’7” wing is an exceptional athlete for his size that makes him a difference maker in a variety of ways. In this matchup, he did the majority of his damage inside, grabbing rebounds and scoring at the rim. Brown is a very versatile defender, being able to guard all positions.

Playing up in Duluth I don’t get many chances to see Carter play, and he certainly stood out in his time at Hopkins over the weekend. At 6’7 he was running the floor like a gazelle for transition dunks, could score out of the pick & roll, and showcased a dangerous pull-up jumper during the 3v3 portion of the showcase. At 6’7 he moves well at his size, has a smooth jumper, and the strength to bully smaller wings inside. A mismatch nightmare at the high school level with his ability to play out on the perimeter or in the paint. He has a chance to put up impressive numbers this winter as a senior.

Carter made the biggest first two minute impression I’ve ever seen at a Showcase: two attacking dunks, beat a player off the bounce for an And1 (FT made too) and three boards
One of the top unsigned players in the state. He had five defensive rebounds before the first sub was made and the three point stroke looked good as well. DIdn’t make the threes with great percentages in game one but the stroke is really solid and he made the needed impression we were hoping to see.

has the most potential of any player on this list. He’s long, tall, skilled, agile and he’s put up better numbers than anybody at 28 points and nearly 14 rebounds a game last season. Coaches need to see him and they need to see that potential, and that can happen this weekend at the Minnesota upperclassmen expo.

I was hearing division one coaches talk about the potential he has to play at their level some day with his size, skill, agility and length. He just needs time and experience. Brown had a fantastic winter but was only around here and there at 17u. If Carter can put together a good winter there is a world of opportunity for him.

is the type of guy that extra chances at a junior college are made for. This 6’5/6’6 wing put up HUGE numbers in Northern Minnesota averaging 28 points and 13 rebounds a game. Unfortunately Brown played rarely in 17u and not a ton of scholarship schools have seen Carter play live.
That said, Brown opened a ton of eyes when coaches did see him this year because he is a long, skilled, agile and has put up really good numbers in high school. The potential is definitely there and a chance to play (and a full scholarship) early in college could be huge.
