With state tournaments in New Jersey now complete and every group champion having been crowned, the high school season comes to a close on a high note. This year delivered something special—weekly highlight reel moments, players cementing their legacies, noticeable development across the board, and emerging prospects stepping into the spotlight. With that in mind, it's worth taking a close look at members of the 2027 class who turned in standout performances and saw their stock rise significantly over the past few months.

Emerging as a high impact connective piece on the wing amongst this extremely talented St. Joe's Metuchen group, [player_tooltip player_id='2895818' first='Imaad' last='Johnson'] often times proved why he remained an intricate part to this group capturing a GMC title and reaching the NJSIAA South Non-Public A final in an impressive first year turn around under new head coach Mark Taylor, bringing significant value on both ends of the floor, fitting naturally into the offense while providing tough high energy on ball defense. Settling into becoming a seamless offensive fit throughout the whole season, Johnson made an efficient and meaningful impact within the flow of the game— showing an ability to knock down perimeter shots as a spot up shooter and attack closeouts with purpose to finish in different ways at the rim. Defensively, Johnson's instincts routinely stood out, as he was often tasked with guarding the opponent's most dangerous perimeter player— applying constant ball pressure, picking up full court, fighting through different ball screens, and consistently holding his stance at the point of attack.

A physically imposing interior presence who takes up significant space in the paint, [player_tooltip player_id='2470853' first='Kamsi' last='Awaka']'s first season at Blair Academy saw him often times leverage his strength and intriguing physical tools to piece together impactful stretches on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor, helping Blair get to as high as #1 in the Prep National Rankings and finishing as Prep National runner ups. Awaka benefited from Blair displaying stretches throughout the course of the season of making it emphasis to get him the ball on the inside— doing his best work on the block, showcasing the ability to operate in the low post and finish through contact, proving effective as a finisher in PnR actions, while also creating second chance opportunities with his activity on the offensive boards. On the defensive end, those same physical traits translated to high level impact— where he leveraged his physicality to carve out space, battle on box outs, and consistently secure rebounds while leveraging his length to be a rim protector, altering and blocking shots with solid timing and anticipation.

Of the many juniors here in the state of New Jersey who endured breakout seasons over the course of the past few months, [player_tooltip player_id='2879017' first='Peti' last='Rosta'] turned heads with his rare mobility and versatility at his size, providing legitimate two way impact for Prep National runner ups, Blair Academy. A meaningful presence in Blair's frontcourt, Rosta provided tremendous value with his rim protection and rebounding, using his length to alter and block shot attempts around and fluidity to crash the boards and secure rebounds all while also demonstrating an ability to switch out onto guards and slide his feet against quicker guards and wings. On offense, Rosta showed strong glimpses of stretching the floor as a reliable outside shooter and an aggressive driver, while also taking advantage of mismatches by backing down smaller defenders in the low post. Rosta's development will be interesting to track as he continues to gain strength and refine his skillset heading into the summer time.

Very few prospects in the state of New Jersey have seen their stocks rise as much as [player_tooltip player_id='2504903' first='Dylan' last='Cowell'] has over the last several months, ultimately catapulting himself into the national rankings. Coming off a breakout junior season that saw him boast impressive averages of 18.2 PPG and 9.68 RPG and leverage his size and length to impact the game on both ends of the floor, the skilled left handed tweener with glaring mobility for his size and tremendous motor has taken significant strides in his on court development— finishing effectively around the rim and providing scoring from the dunker spot and on the low block in traffic, put the ball on the floor and attack driving angles off the bounce, snatching rebounds out the air with his high motor on the boards, excelling as a rim protector defensively, switching out on to quicker guards and wings out on the perimeter. Cowell's development will be intriguing to track going forward as he continues to put it all together and see his recruitment pick up a little more steam in the coming months.

A super bouncy and extremely active forward with unique versatility whose athleticism translates to make difference making plays on both ends of the floor, [player_tooltip player_id='2628248' first='Terrance' last='Jamison'] emerged as a legitimate difference maker amongst this St. Benedict's group in year one under new head coach Chris Simpson what turned out to be a solid turn around season. His offensive impact showed up in a variety of ways over the course of his breakout junior season—finishing effectively on purposeful cuts in the half court, running the floor to convert in transition, and creating second chance opportunities on the offensive glass while also showcasing an increased comfort in putting the ball on the floor and being aggressive in getting downhill to attack the basket. A versatile piece defensively with his tremendous motor and unique physical tools, Jamison combined his athleticism with strong anticipation and quick hands to disrupt passing lanes, turning defense into offense and finishing in transition with emphatic above the rim plays while also crashing the glass with purpose and authority, reflective of his ability to snatch rebounds out the air.

Having seen his stock steadily rise dating back to as far as last summer, [player_tooltip player_id='2910156' first='Jaidyn' last='Boyd'] carried much of that momentum he generated last summer's live periods into his junior season. Seeing himself shoulder a much larger portion of the offensive production for this Lenape group with a different construction of the roster this year, Boyd demonstrated a diverse scoring profile— effective as an aggressive driver using good burst and speed to attack driving angles and finish with creativity around the basket while countering his rim pressure with his confident outside shooting touch, excelling as an extremely versatile and confident outside shot maker.

Having taken significant strides in his development over the last calendar year or so and seen his exposure take an uptick, [player_tooltip player_id='2628254' first='Sebastian' last='Rogers']' intriguing junior season saw boast an impressive blend of length and relentless motor, allowing him to provide major two way impact in the paint through his activity around the rim. Serving as Ridgewood's defensive anchor, he consistently controlled the interior all season, using his physical tools to alter plays—whether by timing strong vertical contests or delivering intimidating shot blocks at the basket. Rogers also proved to be a highly effective rebounder, routinely winning physical battles on the glass. On the offensive end, Rogers showed a lot of the things you like to see in a prospect of his size— finishing effectively inside, capitalizing on driving lanes from the elbow and high post, as well as converting dump off passes from penetrating guards in the dunker spot while also further adding value by crashing the offensive boards, turning second chance opportunities into productive putbacks.

Having resumed his regular ball handling responsibilities as their primary ball handler with his ability to orchestrate the offense and consistently locate open teammates within half court sets while showcasing an increased comfort as Cherry Hill East's primary scorer and filling some of the offensive void, creating his own offense off the bounce from different areas on the floor, [player_tooltip player_id='2763527' first='Chris' last='Abreu'] delivered a stellar individual season that saw him step up as the driving force for this offense the entirety of the season. He maintained an effective and smart balance between playmaking and scoring, keeping defenses on edge by capitalizing on whatever opportunities the defense presented— utilizing his strong and confident handle with his quick first step to consistently get into the paint, finishing with soft touch and excellent body control or using his sound court vision and passing feel to set up his teammates.
