NorCal Standout Performances

Week 2 – Section Playoffs   Bishop O'Dowd vs Liberty    Naas Griffin | 6'5 G | 2026   Naas exploded early with 11 first-quarter points and 23 in the first half, finishing with 34. Griffin is one of the most dangerous players in NorCal with a live dribble. When he catches the ball in triple threat, his shooting ability, athleticism, and shot creation force defenses to load up and often double him.   One sequence summed up his night. Griffin inbounded the ball to an already doubled Kaden Gibbs. The pass was thrown high, Gibbs jumps up and tips the ball back mid-air, and Naas jumps up and finishes the play with a layup. The two showed great awareness, instinct, and execution.   Griffin scored 56 points across two playoff games this week. When he gets rolling, he is tough to contain.     GJ Hill | 6'0 G | 2027   Hill finished with 17 points and rebounded exceptionally well for a guard. It works out in O'Dowd's favor when he secures the rebound, the he's able to immediately initiate the break and they get to play fast which is one of their strengths.   Hill is a blur in transition and an excellent finisher. He closed out the fourth quarter against Liberty with 10 points and previously dropped 20 of his 22 points against Granada. His electric first step consistently puts defenders in recovery mode and at his mercy.     [player_tooltip player_id='2137380' first='Jaiden' last='Miller'] | 5'11 PG | 2027   Miller played with great pace all night against O'Dowd. Throughout the game he was quick but never in a hurry. He scored nine first-quarter points, including a steal-and-layup, a deep three, and an acrobatic pull-up triple where he may have actually gotten fouled.    Miller is a big-time gamer and shot maker, he finished with 38 points, including 22 in the second half. When the moment got bigger, he elevated his game and tried to bring his team along.    Sheldon vs Folsom    [player_tooltip player_id='2613096' first='Baron' last='Sabir'] | 6'5 G | 2027   Sabir poured in 30 points and looked every bit like a Division I shot maker. He has a very quick release and can create his own shot with ease.   He showed unlimited range, knocked down shots off the dribble, and mixed it up by attacking the basket. Ten of his points came in the fourth quarter when the game tightened up. Sabir is a big and with innate scoring ability      [player_tooltip player_id='2613094' first='Tey' last='Carter'] | 6'1 PG | 2026   A true floor general who led the comeback against Folsom. Carter had four steals in the second quarter alone and sped the pace up in the second and third quarters. Once the Huskies gained control late, he slowed the tempo and managed the game. Tey finished with 15 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals. Complete performance from the senior guard.    Cornerstone vs Branson    [player_tooltip player_id='2398419' first='James' last='Perry'] | 6'7 F | 2027   Perry showcased his full offensive arsenal. He knocked down an early three in the first quarter and hit multiple long twos displaying his feathery outside touch.   He had a mismatch most of the night and attacked it relentlessly in the second half, playing with his back to the basket and sealing off defenders early in transition. Perry closed the game with 20 fourth-quarter points, finishing with 35 overall.     [player_tooltip player_id='2137371' first='Benjamin' last='Lukacs'] | 6'3 PG | 2027   Lukacs scored 14 in the second half and set the tone by opening the third quarter with a three. He controlled the flow of the game and ensured his team got quality looks each possession down the. court.   He added nine points in the final frame and assisted on another 10 points in the 4th quarter.     [player_tooltip player_id='2212735' first='NJ' last='Gray'] | 6'2 PG | 2027 Club: Oakland Soldiers   Gray scored 33 points despite Cornerstone attempting to build a wall to slow down his penetration. The shifty guard, seems to have the ball on a string and still found ways to get downhill.   After getting into early foul trouble and sitting much of the third quarter, Gray responded with 17 fourth-quarter points. He capped off the game with several two-hand dunks showcasing his athleticism.    Granada vs Bishop O'Dowd    [player_tooltip player_id='2909979' first='Quaran' last='Johnson Jr.'] | 5'9 PG | 2029   Quaran Johnson Jr is extremely quick, tough to stay in front of, and difficult to trap. Johnson has crafty finishes around the basket and has an unique ability to float shots up over shot blockers.   Johnson finished with 18 points and 7 assists, controlling tempo like a senior guard.      [player_tooltip player_id='2838662' first='Brandon' last='Hahn'] | 6'7 F | 2027   Hahn played big and efficient finishing with 36 points and 18 rebounds. He was a dominatnt presence inside. Down the stretch, he could not miss. He made a series of 15-footers, jump hooks, and soft-touch finishes around the rim keeping Granada in game.    He was fundamentally sound on the glass, making sure to hit someone and box them out every possession.    Clayton Valley vs Salesian    [player_tooltip player_id='1710058' first='Cannon' last='Simpson'] | 6'6 G/F | 2026   Simpson is crucial to the Ugly Eagles' success. When he is aggressive offensively, they are at their best. He does not take many threes, but he hit one early against Dougherty and his strong performance took off from there. Simpson is versatile, he attacks the rim and finishes well above it.   Simpson pushes the ball, makes the right reads, and plays a point-forward role for Clayton Valley. Defensively, he also versatile, when their 6'9 center [player_tooltip player_id='2836275' first='Leo' last='Some'] is out of the game, he is able to anchor the paint as a rim protector.   He scored 22 against Dougherty and 14 against Salesian. He and [player_tooltip player_id='2687711' first='Chris' last='Berry'] nearly swung the game before falling short in the final seconds.
