McDermott, a senior out of Barrington, claims Player of the Year after helping to lead his team to an 18-1 record in the regular season and then to the Open State Chammpionship. The 6'2" guard dropped 32 points in a Division I quarterfinal game and continued to operate at a high level throughout the playoff run. He proved to be one of the state's top decision makers with the ball in his hands, making great reads out of ball screens, finding teammates in positions where they could convert shots, and scoring himself at multiple levels. McDermott will continue his career next year with a postgraduate season at Vermont Academy.

Tarro, a senior out of La Salle, took his game to another level this winter while taking the reigns as the go-to scorer for his team. He passed the 1,000-point mark this winter and was arguably the top athlete in the state, showing a knack for making plays in the open floor. He was hard to guard when he got downhill off the bounce, was a terrific off-ball cutter, and had the ability to operate as a grab-and-go rebounder on the defensive end of the floor. The improvement of his perimeter game, particularly his jump shot, made it so that he was a threat to go for 20 and 10 every time he stepped on the floor.

Ellis-Cipriano, a senior out of Bishop Hendricken, saved his best effort last, dropping 38 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in his team's Open State Tournament semifinal loss to Central. A dynamic playmaker, he used his athleticism, burst, and length to finish at a high level around the rim, while also proving to be a tough shot maker in the mid-range and from behind the arc. His quickness allowed him to make plays as an on-ball defender and in passing lanes, and he took full advantage of his athleticism in the open floor as both a scorer and creator.

Conheeny, a senior out of Portsmouth, left his name all over the record books in his final season of high school basketball. He helped Portsmouth capture the Division 1 state championship and ends his career as the school's all-time leading scorer, with over 1,600 points. A heady combo guard, Conheeny proved to be a talented, multi-level scorer that was adept at creating space and getting to his spots off the bounce. He impressed in the mid-range, showed creativity as a finisher around the rim, and consistently knocked down shots from behind the arc in catch and shoot situations.

Delbrey, a senior out of Classical, led his squad to a 14-5 record in the regular season and capped his high school career by being named the Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year. He finished the year averaging 27.2 points per game, will leave Classical as the school's all-time leading scorer, and is one of nine players in Rhode Island history to pass the 2,000-point mark for his career (2,203 to be exact). On top of his scoring, he was a tenacious defender and one of the top turnover creators in the state, showing the ability to dominate games on both ends of the floor.

Ramos, a sophomore out of Central, spent the winter leaving no doubt that he was the state's top underclassman and finished it by leading his team to an appearance in the Open State Tournament championship game. The 6'1" guard might be the state's top on-ball creator and does a great job of playing at different speeds, manipulating the defense, and then setting up his teammates for easy scoring opportunities. He's crafty with the ball in his hands, can score it in a variety of ways around the rim, and continues to improve as a perimeter shooter. Defensively, he makes a difference with his ability to create turnovers and is elite when he can get out and make plays in transition.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Gianni Pagios: A senior guard out of Lincoln, Pagios played a major role in his team's success this winter, helping lead them to a 19-3 record in the regular season. Pagios was one half of a really good back-court for Lincoln and made it apparent early on that he was one of the top floor generals in the state. He had a good feel for operating out of ball screens, showed high level vision as a passer, and was a terrific scorer in the mid-range and around the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2633288' first='Maleaq' last='Roderick']: A junior wing out of Mt. Hope, Roderick was the best player on the Division 2 champions. A talented athlete, Roderick was a terror at the top of the Mt. Hope press and impressed with his ability to create turnovers and convert scoring opportunities in transition. His activity level was second to none and he proved to be a tough scoring out of isolation situations with the ball in his hands.

Ra'Jhon Jones: A senior guard out of Moses Brown, Jones was instrumental in his team finishing the regular season with a 13-6 record. The 6'3" guard filled up the stat sheet like few others in the state could, averaging 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists per game this winter. He was a dynamic creator with the ball in his hands, a crafty finisher around the rim, and one of the top on-ball defenders in all of Rhode Island.

[player_tooltip player_id='2875547' first='Caleb' last='Satisfield']: A senior guard out of Barrington, Satisfield saved his best for last in helping his team to claim the Open State Championship. Satisfield led the charge with 31 points in the championship game, including the 1,000th of his career, and cemented his place in Barrington's basketball history. A high level athlete, he had some of the loudest plays at the rim, on both ends of the floor, of anyone in the state this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='2711392' first='James' last='Wilson']: A junior guard out of South Kingstown, Wilson proved to be one of the top two-way guards in the entire state this winter. An athletic lefty, Wilson played with a tremendous amount of creativity with the ball in his hands, while also showcasing the ability to knock down shots with deep range. On the other end of the floor, his size and strength allowed him to be a plus rebounder and strong point of attack defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='2341426' first='Josh' last='Bergeron']: A senior guard out of Lincoln, Bergeron had a tremendous bounce-back year in his final high school season, reminding everyone of how talented he is when healthy. A big, strong guard, Bergeron can stake a claim at the purest shooter in Rhode Island. An elite marksman from downtown, what stood out the most this winter was his ability to play under control off the bounce and to get to his spots as a scorer in the mid-range.

[player_tooltip player_id='2568522' first='Mohammed' last='Fadia']: A junior forward out of Classical, Fadia played Robin to Delbrey's Batman and did so in terrific fashion, proving to be one of the state's top big men. A threat to score in double digits any time he stepped on the floor, what really allowed the 6'7" Fadia to stand out was his ability to control the glass and protect the paint. His defensive presence around the rim was unmatched in Rhode Island this season.
