Ramos, a sophomore out of Central, spent the winter leaving no doubt that he was the state’s top underclassman and finished it by leading his team to an appearance in the Open State Tournament championship game. The 6’1″ guard might be the state’s top on-ball creator and does a great job of playing at different speeds, manipulating the defense, and then setting up his teammates for easy scoring opportunities. He’s crafty with the ball in his hands, can score it in a variety of ways around the rim, and continues to improve as a perimeter shooter. Defensively, he makes a difference with his ability to create turnovers and is elite when he can get out and make plays in transition.

Ramos, a sophomore guard out of Central High School, burst onto the scene last winter with a terrific freshman campaign. He’s shifty with the ball in his hands, finds another gear in transition, and has a creative finishing arsenal around the basket. He can play through contact off the bounce and is one of the better, tough shot makers in this class. He should be able to take his game to another level this season and will be one of the top prospects in all of the RIIL.

Ramos has the ability to score the ball he is relentless on the attack and frequently touches the paint. He has great touch inside. Ramos put himself in good spots to collect rebounds. His timing allowed him to come up with steals on defense and he was able to turn it into offensive scoring opportunities. He had a productive camp and stuffed the stat sheet with his play.

Ramos was the cog of Rhode Island Magic’s entire offense on Saturday, consistently getting into the paint and elevating for pull-up jumpers. Nobody could stay in front of him and he used an array of hesitations and herky-jerky moves to get to his spots. He also showed a great finishing repertoire at the rim, skying for a couple of ridiculous, double-clutch finishes. Ramos, only a rising Freshman, should make waves at Central and see his recruitment pick up heavily.
