No. 46 St. Albert (17-4) vs. No. 17 Kuemper Catholic (17-3), Tues. Feb. 10 at 7:30 pm in Des Moines

Making a second-straight appearance in the top three Power Score Matchups of the week, Kuemper Catholic in Carroll is getting another test -- this time on a neutral floor. After taking down 3A Storm Lake 85-79 on the road last week, the Knights will face a top team in 1A at the Casey's Center on Tuesday.

Kuemper, who hasn't lost to a 2A opponent this season, looks primed to make a run to the state tournament, and potentially a 2A title with the way they're playing right now. Though the Knights lost one of, if not their best player early on in the season to injury in [player_tooltip player_id='1765503' first='Brock' last='Badding'], they've kept things rolling, winning 11 games in a row. In the absence of their senior leader, four players in particular have stepped up, averaging 9.8 or more points per game. [player_tooltip player_id='1765513' first='Ryan' last='Clair'] has been the go-to scorer to this point, averaging 17.5 points, and leading the way in rebounding with 6.6 per game. The 6-foot-5 forward is also shooting a monstrous 62.9% from the field. [player_tooltip player_id='2420798' first='Griffin' last='Glynn'] (15.6), [player_tooltip player_id='2420805' first='Dylan' last='Schon'] (11.8) and [player_tooltip player_id='2519974' first='Jack' last='Badding'] (9.8) round out the quartet of primary scorers for the Knights, each playing key backcourt roles. Glynn is shooting 45.5% from three, Schon adds 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per contest, and the younger of the two Baddings leads the way in assists with 5.2 per game.

Much like their 2A counterparts, St. Albert hasn't had much trouble with teams in their native Class 1A this winter. With their only losses coming at the hands of 2A and 3A in-state opponents, the Falcons are one of the more competitive teams in Class 1A.

St. Albert is led by one of the surprise standouts in the class, [player_tooltip player_id='2523893' first='Cooper' last='Hamilton']. The sophomore shooting guard is the primary scorer and a volume shooter for the Falcons, averaging 19.4 points along with 3.6 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game. Having taken 361 shots so far this season, Hamilton is shooting 41.8% from the field and 35% from three.

He's helped out by another sophomore in the starting lineup, [player_tooltip player_id='2509580' first='Colt' last='Spencer'], who has taken the second-most shots this season for their squad. Spencer, the team's 6-foot-4 center who averages 15 points per game, is doing so down low, as he's shooting an efficient 55.8% from the field this season. The team's leading rebounder, as well, Spencer grabs 8.6 per game.

No. 24 Grundy Center (18-0) at No. 26 Union Community (17-2), Thurs. Feb 12 at 7:15 pm

Fresh off their first loss since early December, Union Community will host undefeated Grundy Center for a matchup of 2A eastern Iowa juggernauts on Thursday evening in LaPorte City.

Union, led by a quartet of seniors that share the scoring duties, has a variety of ways they've beaten opponents this season. The leading scorer for the Knights is 5-foot-10 guard, [player_tooltip player_id='1726227' first='Caden' last='Sorensen'], who is putting up 14.9 points and four assists per game while shooting 37.4% from three as the lead guard. The No. 2 scorer is 6-foot-3 forward, [player_tooltip player_id='2678903' first='Tate' last='Van Dyke'], who puts up an average of 13.4 points, to go with a team-leading 9.8 rebounds per game, nearly averaging a double-double. [player_tooltip player_id='1986602' first='Cameron' last='Mullen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1943626' first='Sawyer' last='Spence'] are third and fourth for Union, as the duo combines for 20.3 points per contest. Spence, a surprise standout in 2A, has seen his efficiency lag a bit toward the end of the season, but he's still adding 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals per contest with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.08.

Grundy Center has a quartet of their own leading the way, between three seniors and a junior that have been part of one of the better smaller athletic programs the state has had to offer in recent memory. That, and they're lead by one of the better small town overall athletes in northeast Iowa history. A Stanford golf commit and one of the more accomplished multi-sport stars the state has seen, [player_tooltip player_id='2413534' first='Judd' last='Jirovsky'] is in his final season of high school basketball, leading the way for the Spartans by averaging a team-leading 13.9 points, 6.7 assists and 3.9 steals per game.

After that, [player_tooltip player_id='3255129' first='Brayden' last='Davie'] and [player_tooltip player_id='3449831' first='Ethan' last='Meester'] combine to score 26.4 points per contest, with Davie shooting 44.4% from three on over 100 attempts this season. Fourth is the Spartans' big man, 6-foot-6 center Ryder Slifer who adds 11.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest.

With less than a week to go until the playoffs start, this may be a preview of a bigger game to come down the road in 2A.

No. 2 Waukee Northwest (15-3) at No. 6 Dowling Catholic (15-2), Fri., Feb 13 at 7:45 pm

At this point, you know the deal. Two of the teams we've covered the most this season, Waukee Northwest and Dowling Catholic have their fair share of talent, and they're one of just a few teams in 4A that will contend for the state title in March.

Of course, leading the way for the Wolves are [player_tooltip player_id='1978099' first='Colin' last='Rice'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1643192' first='Landon' last='Davis']. Both headed to play Big Ten basketball after this year, Rice is putting up 22.1 points and 10 rebounds per game while shooting 51.6% from the field and 41.3% from three, while Davis is averaging 13.9 points, 10.2 assists and shooting 57.7% from the floor. Having lost two of their last three, though -- one to a program from Wisconsin and another to cross-town rival, Waukee.

Dowling has one five of their last six games, and the last time these two faced off, the Maroons took a 20-point loss on the road -- awfully familiar to the loss 22-point loss Waukee took to Northwest early on in the season before taking the victory over their rivals last week.

Navy commit and 6-foot-10 big man, [player_tooltip player_id='2617486' first='Charles' last='Crane'] leads the way for Dowling, averaging 13.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. He's supported by the [player_tooltip player_id='2731790' first='Noah' last='Martens'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2443978' first='Alfred' last='Kolee'] duo, who combine for 22.6 points per game. Kolee adds 8.6 rebounds and Martens dishes out 4.6 assists per game.

Waukee Northwest has shown some vulnerability over the last week. Can Dowling take advantage?
