Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
Clair was dominant against Treynor, scoring 27 points on 11-15 shooting, including going 3-4 from behind the arc. The 6-6 big man is a highly skilled offensive player with great footwork and soft touch around the rim, the ability to step out and space the floor, and he passes it really well out of the high post when the Knights play through him there. His full offensive arsenal was on display against the Cardinals, helping lift Kuemper into the 2A title game.

was on the court for Kuemper Catholic on Wednesday. A big-bodied, athletic rim-protector, Clair was a major deterrant for any Union player looking to attack the basket. A shot-blocker that takes up space in the paint, Clair’s presence in the Knights’ rotation was key in keeping the Knights from scoring.
Offensively, Clair’s size made it relatively easy to score around the hoop, while also providing spacing because of his ability to shoot from the outside. A rebounding machine, to boot, Clair gave Kuemper multiple possessions that they otherwise wouldn’t have had on offense and grabbed big defensive boards, too. Clair finished with 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting, adding 12 rebounds for a double-double.

Clair is one of the most dominant players in 2A, averaging 16.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.3 blocks, and those numbers would be even more impressive if: a. Kuemper wasn’t so loaded with talent and b. They didn’t play in so many blowouts. He has great hands and footwork, soft touch around the rim, and he can step out and stretch the floor with a smooth stroke from deep.
