On Tuesday February 10th I watched the match-up of 5A Mountain Pointe Pride hosting the 5A Desert Mountain Wolves.

Mountain Pointe will be in the OPEN and Desert Mountain will be in the 5A playoffs.

I checked out two levels with Freshman and Varsity.

Here were the standouts on the night

All the stats are unofficial.

Freshman Game (71-42 Mountain Pointe won)

[player_tooltip player_id='2692323' first='Zion' last='Brown'] Mountain Pointe

A long and leaner power forward who moves well from end to end. He will score with euro steps, drop step moves, spin moves and he can take the ball off the glass and go coast to coast and dunk it. He has sneaky good court vison and rebounds at a high clip. He scored 18 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2965443' first='Kejhan' last='Johnson'] Mountain Pointe

A long wing is a point forward type. He handles the ball fairly well and has advanced court vision and a natural feel to make a play. He scores with offensive rebound put backs and transition buckets. He scored 6 points with 5 assists and 5+ rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='3487311' first='Andrew' last='Stratton'] Desert Mountain

An active power forward is very effective and efficient. He scores it around the basket and dominates the glass. He will score with offensive rebound put backs, rip thrus and tough layups inside. He finished with 15 points and around 10 rebounds.

Varsity Game (69-57 Mountain Pointe won)

[player_tooltip player_id='1956218' first='Marcus' last='Isaac'] Mountain Pointe (Pictured)

The star of the night was definitely Isaac. He showed off his budding skill with four mid-range jumpers and he also hit a three at the buzzer of a shot clock. He rolls to the basket, scores with hook shots and has great hands to catch tough passes thrown his way to finish. He scored 25 points with multiple blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='2466075' first='Jayvein' last='Moody'] Mountain Pointe

An athletic combo guard was doing it all in this game. He was threading the needle for assists and scoring. He poured in 17 points with in traffic and-1 takes after a burst of speed, crow hops, impressive dunks on the break and his mid-range game was clicking. He was also collecting steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194481' first='Justin' last='Kimbrough'] Mountain Pointe

A pure point guard was guiding the team most of the night as a floor general and wasn't looking to score as much as he usually does. He plays at a good pace and will rack up assists. He will score with floaters and mid-range jumpers. He is a sneaky good rebounder for his size. He scored 4 points with multiple assists and rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194806' first='Zen' last='London'] Mountain Pointe

A physical two-way player typically takes on the task of slowing down the teams top guard or wing. He is a physical player who can get downhill and score with layups or get fouled and score with put backs off the glass. He is the team's glue player and scored 6 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2674062' first='Nick' last='Rosato'] Desert Mountain

A scoring guard is the team's sniper from deep. He has a pretty stroke and will rattle them in one by one. He actually hit five triples in this game and he gets the ball out of his hands quickly. He will also score with dribble drive and-1's with either hand. He finished with 18 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2825980' first='Brexton' last='Quinet'] Desert Mountain

A highly skilled scoring lead guard can fill it up with threes off the catch or pull. He will score with step thrus, mid-range fall aways and tough takes. He will drive and kick it plus dime his teammates with bail out passes. He scored 13 points with a few assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432565' first='Amaurie' last='Beausejour'] Desert Mountain

A scoring lead guard is a gifted ball handler with some speed. He can direct the offense but when he comes in the game he is looking to score it. He will score with blow by takes, threes off the catch or pull, quick bursts to the basket to score or get to the free throw line. He finished with 11 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2894935' first='Kendell' last='Stapleton'] Desert Mountain

A pure point guard who is a two-way player. He is a physical on-ball defender and a tough rebounder for a guard. He will score with blow by takes in the lane and contested rebound put backs. He sees plays happening quickly and had close to 5 assists with 4 points.

On Tuesday February 10th I watched the match-up of 5A Mountain Pointe Pride hosting the 5A Desert Mountain Wolves.
