Excelled from beyond the arc this past weekend, at one point nailing three consecutive catch-and-shoot threes, which showed he is more than just a downhill threat. But he was still the transition and downhill scorer his team needed. In the halfcourt he used a quick change of pace and head fakes to catch defenders off guard before powerfully blowing by. Once in the paint he can finish with euro steps and spin moves. Was feasting in transition, playing pesky defense and forcing turnovers, allowing him and his teammates to push on the break for easy buckets.

He’s a slasher, primarily getting his buckets on drives to the paint, using quick lateral bursts on the dribble to beat his man. Once he’s inside he can finish straight up or use a euro step to slide past the last defender. He also reads where to place the ball on his layup attempts to keep defenders at a disadvantage, whether that means rising up through contact or flipping it in on a reverse.

Amaurie is a good athlete at the point guard spot that is able to take the ball coast to coast for a layup or a kick out to corner shooter. He gets in good windows of the defense to spot up for catch and shoot three’s. Amaurie hit four three’s in the game and when he gets his feet set his shot is money. He gets out and runs lanes well and has the ability to play off the ball. He has good hands and will poke the ball away from ball handlers.

A dynamic guard who can rack up points in a variety of ways. Uses footwork and creativity to shake defenders, connects from long range with confidence, and finishes strong through traffic. He plays with purpose and makes it tough for opponents to settle in defensively.
