We're into January, with the start of the New Year bringing in a handful of new commitments throughout New England.

Below are eight prospects that recently announced their plans for next year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1437580' first='Treyvon' last='Miller']

Miller, a forward out of the St. Paul's School in New Hampshire, came off the board with a commitment to Wesleyan University. Miller has a solid frame and at 6'7", offers some inside-out versatility on the offensive end of the floor. He can stretch the floor with his shooting ability and also makes solid decisions from the top of the key with the ball in his hands. Defensively, he does a nice job of making an impact on the glass. He's the type of versatile forward that usually finds success in the NESCAC and has a chance to make an early impact at Wesleyan.

[player_tooltip player_id='2396775' first='Liam' last='Simpson']

Simpson, a forward out of Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts, announced his future plans with a commitment to Tufts University. Simpson is a terrific two-way rebounder that gets more out of his 6'6" frame than anyone in the region. He scores it in a variety of ways around the rim, makes good decisions with the ball in his hands, and has the ability to defend a variety of positions on the other end of the floor. His rebounding is a standout skill and should translate to the next level. He could fill an immediate hole in the Tufts frontcourt and could develop into one of the better forwards in the NESCAC with time.

[player_tooltip player_id='2418200' first='Mekhi' last='Simmons']

Simmons, a guard out of the St. Paul's School in New Hampshire, finalized his plans for the next level with a commitment to Colby College. Simmons is incredibly quick end-to-end, impressing with his speed with the ball in his hands. As a scorer, he has a quick first step when getting downhill and does a nice job of using his length as a finisher around the rim. Defensively, he moves well laterally and is disruptive at the point of attack, creating plenty of deflections and steals. His ability to make a two-way impact should play in the NESCAC and I'd expect him to have a nice four-year career at Colby.

[player_tooltip player_id='2696676' first='Nolan' last='Ames']

Ames, a guard out of Camden Hills Regional High School in Maine, made his plans public when he announced that he'll attend Colby College. Ames has a college ready frame and is a plus athlete, which only adds to his ability to make an impact on the offensive end of the floor. He's a true three-level scorer that does great job of moving without the ball, attacking advantages on the perimeter, and elevating into his jumper in the mid-range and from behind the arc. His versatility as a scorer should allow him to earn minutes early at Colby, where he could grow into one of the top scorers in the NESCAC.

[player_tooltip player_id='2553700' first='Byron' last='Robertson Jr.']

Robertson, a guard out of Burlington High School in Vermont, wrapped up his recruitment with a commitment to Colby-Sawyer College. Robertson has done a lot of winning over the last twelve months and proven to be a high-level decision maker as a primary ball-handler. He's got some wiggle off the bounce, is a crafty finisher over size in the paint, and makes shots consistently in catch and shoot situations. Defensively, he can really turn over opposing guards in space and in the half-court. He plugs a hole in the Colby-Sawyer back-court and should be able to make an immediate impact in the GNAC.

[player_tooltip player_id='2547060' first='Griffin' last='Sward']

Sward, a guard out of the New Hampton School in New Hampshire, finalized his plans for next year with a commitment to Wheaton College. Sward is a heady guard that does a nice job of picking his spots as a scorer and playing within himself and within the flow of the offense. He's a bigger guard that can handle in the half-court, delivers passes on time and on target, and shows the ability to score around the rim and from behind the arc. He'll bring plenty of experience to the Wheaton back-court and has the ability to develop into a top guard in the NEWMAC.

[player_tooltip player_id='1213867' first='Nick' last='Sangermano']

Sangermano, a guard out of the Loomis Chaffee School in Connecticut, came off the board when he announced that he'll attend the University of New Hampshire. Sangermano is a complete wing that makes an impact on both ends of the floor. He has a college ready frame, can finish plays above the rim in space, and does a nice job of sitting and working on the defensive end of the floor. He does a nice job of attacking the rim in transition, can get his own in isolation situations, and makes shots in bunches from behind the arc. He has all the tools to make an early impact in the America East and could develop into one of New Hampshire's better wings over time.

[player_tooltip player_id='1786395' first='Luke' last='Schorr']

Schorr, a guard out of the Hotchkiss School in Connecticut, put an end to his recruitment with a commitment to Emory University. Schorr has quickly established himself as one of the better shot-makers in the region and is a terrific mover without the basketball. He uses screens to his advantage, slides into open passing windows off drives, and is always shot ready on the catch. On top of that, he makes quick decisions with the ball offensively, while also showing a high basketball IQ and strong understanding of rotations on the defensive end. He's a perfect fit in the UAA and, with time, should carve out a big role in Emory's back-court.
