Holiday Top Performers (non-tournament related)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Over the Holidays I watched MIAA's Xaverian, Mansfield, North Attleboro, North Middlesex, BC High, Melrose and Waltham all compete. Each team has other players to discuss but I wanted to give credit to the best player that night or most consistent. All the teams mentioned compete and most likely will make the playoffs. Continuing with his defense he works hard and anticipates counter moves by the dribbler. I watched him tonight challenge screens hard fighting over the top and hedging. While driving to the hoop he maintains a strong lower half and balance. He excels at shooting but can take his guy off the bounce getting plenty of paint touches. He shot well from deep off the catch/shoot and in transition off the catch/shoot situations. A football player at the next level. Tommy sure does play with effort and hustle, diving to tip or grab loose balls at least a few times in each game. He is a rim runner that works to beat everyone up the floor. He is a great communicator on defense, contesting shots hard. He has some bounce to his game dunking the ball against BC High. He will play football at the next level, most likely at Salve Regina. He works as hard as anyone on both ends, taking charges, drawing fouls. He has the potential to score from all three levels. When around the rim with a few of his moves he maintains the ability to square his shoulders up. He has a few strategies when trying to grab offensive rebounds off missed free throws. He is averaging a double double for the season. He is quick and twitchy with a variety of well drawn out handles. He is definetely a 3 level scorer, making adjustments in mid-air while taking it to the cup. He is not afraid of being physical/absorbs the contact but plays with finese/soft touches around the rim. He can shoot deep off the catch/shoot or take his guy off the bounce. Jake has a lot of nice attributes besides scoring, he makes accurate passes even on the move, moves well without the ball to create offensive fluidity. He attacks the paint relentlessly squaring shoulders, staying low to maintain strength/balance drawing multiple fouls. He has more than a couple moves to score whether mid-range or from deep, even college range. He continues to take what the defense gives because of his ability to counter when dribbling even counter again. This is a D3 player with interest from Coast Guard, Rivier to name a couple. He has potential at the next level, projected post grad year or D3/JUCO in college. He had a few nice rim runs in transition. He can handle the ball a little bit taken pressure off the guards. Driving to the paint with the ball and can soar above others even having a few runners that were AND 1's. He finished with a double double and that must be the norm against his competition. He has a high IQ especially around the cup, in transition after he stole the ball made a jump stop layup to avoid a foul. He continued to play off two feet throughout the game. Has a variety of moves to breakdown the defense. He changes his pace of dribble and had a nice AST/TO ratio against Mansfield. Scored all his points inside the 3 point line and FTM but if he wanted to play at the next level he will have to stretch the floor more than I witnessed.
