We're officially past the half-way point of the season in all six of New England's state associations.

As the state tournament races heat up, we thought it would be a good time to take a look at some of the Standout Scorers from across the six states this winter.

First up will be New Hampshire, where we'll take a look at a few standouts from across the four divisions of the NHIAA.

New Hampshire has one of our favorite sites for high school basketball, the NH Sports Page, where the hosts do a terrific job of publishing results, standings, and statistics for all teams and divisions throughout the state - making it really easy to track some of the top scorers in the NHIAA.

Here are five prospects that have been lighting it up on courts across the granite state this winter:

McGowan, a standout senior out of Bishop Guertin High School, leads Division I in scoring at 26.0 points per game through 10 games played. McGowan has a single-game high of 34 (twice), hasn't scored less than 17 (twice) in any single game, and has scored more than 25 points in 7 of his 10 games. Bishop Guertin sits at 8-3 and McGowan is a major reason why. McGowan might be the best mid-range scorer in the state, can finish in a variety of ways around the basket, and consistently makes shots from behind the arc in catch and shoot situaitons. He's taken his game to another level this winter with his ability to create scoring opportunities off the bounce in isolation situations.

Gumaa, an athletic senior out of Manchester Central High School, is second in Division I in scoring at 21.8 points per game through 10 games played. Gumaa started the season with just 7 points on opening night, since then he's crossed the 20-point mark 7 times, including a season-high of 32 points in his most recent outing. Manchester Central is just 3-7, but Gumaa has kept them competitive on most nights. Gumaa is one of the more athletic guards in the state and does a great job of using his athleticism to his advantage in transition. He does a nice job of attacking the rim off the bounce and, if help comes, finds a way to just go finish over the defense. He's got a quick first step, is relentless on the offensive glass, and is a solid off-ball cutter.

Casey, a senior wing out of Bishop Brady High School, leads Division II in scoring at 22.0 points per game through 9 games played. Casey has a single-game high of 33 points, hasn't scored less than 15 (twice) on any night, and has scored more than 25 points on four occasions. Casey does a nice job of scoring it at multiple levels, using his frame to his advantage in the paint, but also showing touch out to the three point line as a shooter. He makes good decisions with the ball in his hands, has the ability to finish through contact around the rim, and does a nice job of operating as a roller or pop man out of ball screens. His basketball IQ is high and, ultimately, is what makes him such a versatile threat on the offensive end of the floor.

Smith, a lead guard out of White Mountains Regional High School, leads Division III in scoring at 24.6 points per game through 12 games played. Smith has what might be the single-game high in the state this winter, with 46 points in a single outing, and has broken the 30-point mark on four occasions (with 29 points in two other games). White Mountains is in the thick of the tournament race at 6-7 and has needed every basket they've gotten from Smith this winter. Smith has put his name into the conversation as the best perimeter shooter in the state this winter. He has in the gym range on his jumper, can get his shot off in catch and shoot situations as well as off the bounce, and has shown the ability to be a threat in the mid-range off the bounce. His ability to create, for himself and others, with the ball in his hands has only elevated his ability to score it this winter.

Yonkeau, a senior forward out of Holy Family Academy, leads Division IV, and has the top overall scoring averaging in the state, at 27.8 points per game through 9 games played. Yonkeau kicked off the season in style, dropping 43 points on opening night. He's followed that up with five more outings of 25 or more points and hasn't scored less than 19 in any single game. Behind Yonkeau's scoring efforts, Holy Family is 6-3 and fighting for a top four seed in Division IV. Yonkeau is as physically imposing of a forward as there is in Divison IV, which plays to his advantage when it comes to scoring the basketball. At 6'5" with long arms, a college ready frame, and plus athleticism, he's able to take over games around the rim and draws fouls at a high rate. Beyond that, he's shown the ability to consistently make shots from behind the arc, which only makes defending him that much more difficult for opponents.
