Expert Analysis

Committed to: Emory University
Schorr is a knock-down three-point shooter who has been shooting the lights out this season for a very solid Hotchkiss team. The 6-foot-3 guard has a beautiful release and gets it off super quickly, so when you combine those skills with his size and length, it makes him super effective. He also does an excellent job driving closeouts and making decisions at the nail and in the paint. He’s just a fundamentally sound, smart basketball player who should really excel at the next level based on how well he’s playing in the NEPSAC right now.

+14 (#77 to #63)
Schorr, a guard out of the Hotchkiss School in Connecticut, rose 14 spots in this update and now sits at #57 overall. Schorr, an Emory commit, has cemented his status as one of New England’s premier shooters. He has a quick release on his jumper, in the gym range, and does a great job of moving without the basketball to get open. He’s expanded his offensive game this winter, playing with more strength as a driver and some creativity as a scorer around the rim. Defensively, he has the size to guard all three perimeter spots at the next level and makes high IQ plays off the ball.

+25 (#103 to #78)
Schorr, a guard out of the Hotchkiss School, jumped 25 spots in this rankings update. The talented shooter had a strong summer with the NJ Panthers, showing that he could make jumpers against high level competition, both in stationary situations and as a movement shooter. He does a nice job of getting into his shot quickly, has deep range on his jumper, and is capable of making them in bunches. He has good size at the guard spot, is a capable decision maker in the half-court, and has some touch as a finisher in the paint. Defensively, he’ll guard either back-court spot and does a nice job of being in the right position off the ball.

really made a clear impact for his team. He was hitting open threes with a clean stroke off the catch, playing hard with intensity guarding the perimeter, and wasn’t afraid of contact inside while making smart decisions too.

Schorr, a scoring guard out of New Jersey, cracks this list for the first time after opting to do a post-graduate year at the Hotchkiss School. A high level perimeter shooter, he’s really good in catch and shoot situations, but also shows the ability to step behind screens off the bounce and make threes too. He moves well without the basketball, makes solid decisions with the ball in his hands, and can score around the rim with some touch and creativity. He can defend either guard spot, using his size and length combo to be disruptive in passing lanes.

An absolute lights out shooter from the perimeter, Luke Schorr continued to show much of what’s boosted his stock over the last couple of years. Showcasing his smooth and compact release, Schorr displayed his versatility as a shooter— shooting it off the catch, coming off screens, in transition, and shooting it off the dribble. Schorr also showed flashes of being able to put the ball on the floor a little bit more this season, coming off those screens and pindowns when defenses ran him off the line. Schorr averaged 11.6 PPG this season for Union Catholic.

Having proven himself as one of the state’s premier shooters, Schorr continued a strong senior year by knocking down four shots from deep as part of a 20-point effort. He mixed it up a bit with some knifing drives to the rim while playing his typically smart and unselfish floor game. With his track record of production, big-game experience, and a translatable plug-and-play skillset, Schorr should be coveted by high-level D3 programs and is worth a look for scholarship programs who prioritize shooting.
