The [program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'] Shootout concluded on Sunday with six more games including a clash of the #1 and #2 teams in the state to close out the evening. Here is our breakdown of all the action in [program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'] Shootout: Scotty B's Sunday Notebook!

Niego Lights Up Nets in Brother Rice Win

First up was Brother Rice as they won 51-38 over Lincoln Way East. It was all about [player_tooltip player_id='2823126' first='Joseph' last='Niego'] in this game as he was about as automatic as you can be as I think he only missed one shot. The face up post was pouring in mid-range jumpers, wing threes, and hook shots in the paint. Everything he put up went in as he had 21 points. Needs to be on the radar of small colleges heading into the holiday tournaments! Adam McBreaty has mostly been known as a pure spot up shooter, but we liked the toughness he brought around the hoop including several scores out of the post netting 6 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2455377' first='Uriah' last='Davis'] did a nice job running the show getting others involved.

Lincoln Way East was paced by a pair of backcourt players. Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2532254' first='Jaymon' last='Hornsby'] is a quick and athletic lead guard that had 8 points. Highest ceiling player is probably [player_tooltip player_id='2125656' first='KJ' last='Brown']. The 2027 rangy wing has a sweet looking lefty shot along with winning on shake drives to the rim for 9 points.

Young Stars Lead Mt. Carmel to Victory Against Glenbard East

Mt. Carmel hosted the event and took home a 51-48 win against a really solid Glenbard East team. Good win for the Caravan beating a veteran squad led by a young core. [player_tooltip player_id='2767906' first='Ronald' last='Johnson'] looked like a potential star as the 2029 lead guard had 13 points in the game. Great frame, size, and athleticism. Pushed it to the cup, slick handles, straight line takes over and over, along with being active on the defensive end. [player_tooltip player_id='2877491' first='Marshaun' last='Thornton'] is the top wide receiver in the state in 2028, but he also brought it on the hardwood in this one. First what stood out is holding one of the state's top scorers to well under his average chasing Nee around the floor all game along with using his length and athleticism to make everything difficult for him. Offensively he is an elite transition athlete and downhill slasher who had 14 points. Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='2915584' first='DK' last='Heard'] didn't play in the first half, but he had some impactful plays on both ends in the second half as the projectable wing had a reverse layup, blocked a three, and got on the glass. Logan Wessel brings some veteran leadership to this team as he displayed a versatile offensive game netting 9 points.

South Dakota commit [player_tooltip player_id='2839863' first='Michael' last='Nee'] is one of the best shooters in the state. He did knock in a couple of threes and a pull up, but it wasn't the same outing we usually see from the Glenbard East star. Did see some solid passing out of him including a couple on the money dimes while scoring 12 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2415521' first='Danny' last='Snyder'] is a lefty that stretches the floor from deep with 8 points. Their inside duo of [player_tooltip player_id='2411580' first='Jacob' last='Marynowski'] and Sam Walton were tough finishing around the hoop with their size netting 13 points and 8 points respectively.

Loyola Tops Kenwood in Clash of Styles

In the third game it was Kenwood vs Loyola which for those that know these programs that is about as far on the pace scale you can get. Kenwood wants to run while Loyola wants to go well beyond what the shot clock will be next year. Loyola kept it somewhat low scoring and bled the clock in the second half despite not scoring a field goal in the last quarter winning 50-46. [player_tooltip player_id='1552480' first='Trey' last='Williams'] is a Cornell commit that has legit game. He is a broad shouldered true point guard that has a tremendous feel. He plays at his pace and runs their back cutting offense to perfection. He scored 15 points in the win making a lot of trips to the line. [player_tooltip player_id='2386611' first='Luke' last='Alvarez'] shot it very well from three as the 2027 popped on our radar as a sharp shooter pouring in 16 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2888093' first='Broderick' last='Munsey-Johnson'] was a versatile glue guy that finished out of the dunker spot, sealed, and got to the line for 14 points.

In the first half it was [player_tooltip player_id='2864914' first='Osiris' last='Bell'] who was the spark as the junior guard is a quick twitched lefty guard that likes to hit holes getting in the paint for slick takes and soft touch finishes as he had 12 points. It was a slow start, but [player_tooltip player_id='2323622' first='Damari' last='Stephens'] started to hit some threes in the second half as he had 14 points. [player_tooltip player_id='1552417' first='Jordan' last='Walker'] is back at Kenwood and appears to be settling into his role as he made several jumpers for 11 points.

Meyers Steps Up Leading Marist over Hyde Park

This one wasn't as close as the score indicates as Marist completely shut off the Hyde Park offense leading at the half 27-5. They would go on to win 59-31. With NC State football commit [player_tooltip player_id='1845350' first='Stephen' last='Brown'] out it was 2027 power forward [player_tooltip player_id='2125658' first='Kendall' last='Meyers'] who was able to showcase his game. He is an interesting prospect as he can really pass it and handle for his size. Spin moves from the mid-post, pull ups, and rebounded in traffic for 12 points. Long and rangy wing [player_tooltip player_id='1552445' first='Charles' last='Barnes Jr'] was a lockdown defender and played off his athleticism for 10 points. Also with 10 points were lead guard [player_tooltip player_id='1845365' first='Adoni' last='Vassilakis'] along with new name [player_tooltip player_id='2832926' first='Ryan' last='Lawlor'] who shot it well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2963439' first='Keonte' last='Douglas'] was the top scorer for Hyde Park in this game as the guard did get loose in the second half for 12 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2734383' first='Jacobi' last='Walls'] showed some potential as a defensive big man with his size netting 7 points.

Benet Wins over Scrappy Rich Township

In this game Benet's front line flexed their muscle winning 57-45 against Rich Township. [player_tooltip player_id='2105376' first='Colin' last='Stack'] is the tallest player in the state and the top senior center in the state. He high pointed rebounds, had tip ins, dunks, and protected the rim finishing with 17 points. Class of 2027 power forward [player_tooltip player_id='2323620' first='Ed' last='Stasys'] is a strong and athletic four that is super impactful as a rebounder and defender. Also had a couple massive slams including an early poster for and-1. Rim runs, seals, and can handle it from the high-post as he had 14 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3187105' first='Kavon' last='Ammons'] has emerged as the go to guy for Rich Township. He is a well built wing that banged in multiple threes along with taking and making several tough step back twos. He had 19 points.

#1 DePaul Prep Knocks Off #2 Kankakee in Finale

The headline matchup ended up being the #1 team in the state DePaul Prep vs #2 Kankakee. DePaul Prep took home the win 56-49. [player_tooltip player_id='1435692' first='Rykan' last='Woo'] had to take on more of a scoring load in the first half with [player_tooltip player_id='1845360' first='Rashaun' last='Porter'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2323334' first='AJ' last='Chambers'] in foul trouble. Woo does whatever his team needs done to win. In this one that was fill it up which is exactly what he did scoring 21 points consistently getting in the heart of the Kankakee defense for trips to the charity stripe. Creative finisher with a killer pull up game from 15 feet. Big man [player_tooltip player_id='1845360' first='Rashaun' last='Porter'] picked up a couple early fouls, but the strong and physical post still managed 14 points and 11 rebounds. He got deep post position several times for hook shot going over both shoulders. Seems like he is even strong than he was in the summer. Rebounded at a high level! Combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='2323334' first='AJ' last='Chambers'] pushed the pace when it was needed and was a vocal leader notching 9 points and 7 rebounds. [player_tooltip player_id='2842573' first='Blake' last='Choice'] continues to emerge as a big sophomore guard that is learning under the senior stars before it becomes his show. Shot it well in this game draining a corner three and a mid-range along with getting after it on the defensive end as he had 7 points.

Indiana State commit [player_tooltip player_id='1552625' first='EJ' last='Hazelett'] had a big game for Kankakee. The big man dropped 21 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. Showcased what makes him a great Missouri Valley fit. Can stretch the floor with his shot making from beyond the arc. Quick takes from the mid-post area and really liked his second jump on the offensive glass. [player_tooltip player_id='2105360' first='Lincoln' last='Williams'] is the top uncommitted senior in the state. He had flashes using his length to get steals for transition points and sized up a big man burying a three in his grill for 14 points.
