The month of December was a growing period for the Class 4A Knights. After early troubles at the Edmond Open, they blossomed at the Mustang Holiday Classic. They did so by dominating the tournament with three straight double digit victories over three Class 6A teams. The crowning moment was the title game where they hit seven first quarter threes and proceeded to fly to the title.

If this tournament was any indication, Crossings Christian should be positioned as the favorite in Class 4A. But as this young season is proving, the parity is real in Oklahoma. Creating roller coaster type swings for teams like Crossings and others.

A fitting end to the year for one Oklahoma's most improved players. Helped started the onslaught of three pointers. And then brought the counter punch by dominating off the dribble. Drives to the rim under control for a player of his size, and then uses hard two foot steps to give him the edge to score. Had 23 points and 9 rebounds in the title game victory. Averaged 19.3 points for the three games and grabbed 7 rebounds game. His efficiency was insane, shooting 66% from the field, including 5 of 9 shooting from three.

Only 11 points in the title game, but he was a go to bucket getter in the two earlier wins. Usually not a fan of the term sneaky athletic for white players. But in Buckingham's case it might be apt. As there are moments where he'll find leaping ability seemingly out of nowhere. In the title game it came when he nearly put an opponent on a poster.

When Mustang was rolling in the quarterfinals and semifinals, it's because Wilborn was at the controls. He handed out 6 assists on Monday, then 8 on Tuesday. While the tournament ended on a down note for the Broncos, their new point guard is a true playmaker. Who can help with the scoring and will also put a shift in on defense.

Hawkins' high point came in the semifinal battle where he hit multiple threes and scored 17 points. Very good athlete, who leveragesn that athletic ability with high motor play on defense. Can sky for blocks at the rim, forces steals and other hustle plays. The Titans are a balanced squad and the senior urgency of Hawkins will be important as they aim to start another Class 5A State Tournament appearance streak.

Which of course included the top individual scoring game by any player this week. He heads back to the 918 stamped not only as one of the elite shooters in 2026, but a flat out bucket getter.

The Tulsa commit shook off a tough start to put together back to back 30+ games and a 5th place finish. It was more of the same for the outstanding senior. A master at drawing contact with his pump fakes and other moves on drives. Anytime Dale needs a clutch bucket, it's going to be Forsythe and everyone in the gym knows it. He's the leader for a squad that is the favorite to win their 5th straight Class 2A Title. And hasn't lose to a fellow Class 2A team since February of 2023.

After living off the dribble and the line with back to back strong games, Anderson found his three ball on Wedneday. Started off strongly and went for 28 points to conclude his hot month of December. He's one of the craftier scorers in the state. Great body control takes, hanging in the air and contorting for a split second to score against contested looks. Or slipping his way all the way to the rim. To go along with the scoring, he started very active and smart on the defensive. Jumping a backdoor pass for a steal and more disruptive play. Great all around improvements by Anderson to close out a strong month.

Johnson put his name in the Mustang Holiday Classic record books with 10 three pointers in the opening victory. While his shooting didn't quite reach those heights again, he continued to play older than his youth with steady play. Along with the feathery soft three point shot, he has a legit midrange game. It will be interesting to see how his athleticism and driving game develops but it's clear he has a fantastic foundation as a shooter with solid size. And the room to keep working into a complete scorer at the varsity level and beyond.
