Wolves moving to the front of the Pack?

Edmond Santa Fe was one of the most aggressive and loudest teams at the Previews. They're not overly tall when it comes to traditional forwards, but they have outstanding size from the wings and guard spots. And their smallest player, Money Robinson might be the beating heart of their up tempo squad. He's always been a crafty and quick driver off the bounce. On Saturday he was doing that. While he always seemed to be in the middle of every turnover the Wolves' press caused.

Surrounding Robinson are the uber athletic Baba brothers (Joseph senior and Joshua sophomore), sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2381835' first='TJ' last='Newton'] and junior [player_tooltip player_id='2140735' first='DeWayne' last='McKinney Jr']. The improvements of the Babas and Newton were expected after their strong springs and summers. McKinney was a bit more of a wild card. He looked to have made a similar jump. Quality athlete, who is playing more consistently above the rim. While also being an another havoc causer with a high motor, quickness and long arms on defense. Offensively, he's a dynamic slasher, who should add to the impressive highlight reels that Santa Fe will produce. His improvements help elevates the Wolves' ceiling as a potential State contender.

Dow is the Tiger with the most returning 6A varsity experience. An injury has slowed the start to his fall. But if his spring and summer were any indication, he's ready to take over. He was starting to assault the rims with vengeance, as he's strong and explosive. Will play more like a big guard on BA team that needs handling help after graduating a deep senior class. Could lead the Tigers in multiple stat categories.

Fittingly, Dow is a late bloomer similar to his older brother Connor, who is now at Oral Roberts. Plays with similar toughness, but is a touch more nimble and athletic. Yet not as pure of a shooter as the older Dow.

Durham is a sophomore sniper. Caught fire a bit in a match up against Del City. But he also showed no backdown in working hard to help break the press. And attacking the basket after being ran off the line. Has a crafty handle and did a good job of staying even kill and not getting sped up too much against older, quicker guards. Intriguing prospect to keep tabs on for an Ike team that potentially has the guards to make a big turnaround from last year's 4-19 mark.

The Eagles are guard heavy but the senior forward brought a different look. Anchored the back of the press. When teams were able to break the press, Fleming was mobile enough to cover a lot of ground and protect the rim. Similarly scrappy on the offensive end with rebounds. But even stepped out and hit the occasional 15-18 foot baseline jumper. The senior has always had promising potential and he looks to be peaking at the right time. Setting himself to pair with his younger brother Marquis (sophomore) to be athletic game changers for Del City.

After a high school career plagued by literal growing pains and injuries, Milton looked healthy and strong as the previews. Was trusted and capable of handling the pressure against one of the best defensive guard teams in Oklahoma. Able to get paint touches to score himself or stop on two feet and make smart passes. Always has known how to play, especially coming from a basketball family with two siblings who were among two of the best to ever play at Owasso. Look for the youngest Milton to make up for lost time as a difference maker on the 6A contending Rams.
