The Lima Mega Scrimmage was a very competitive day of basketball where 17 teams from across Ohio and a few neighboring states participated throughout the day on three separate courts. In this article I'll break down six guards who caught my eye throughout the day.

Lomack was getting busy for Akron STVM in a back and forth contest with Delphos St John's where each team split a half win. Lomack hit multiple pull-up 3-pointers above the break where the defense went under the screen, giving him the time and space to fire away. A crafty downhill attacker, Lomack is able to get where he wants off the dribble and has enough athletes with size cutting and sitting in the paint to finish when the defense collapses on his dribble penetration.

A player who's impact goes beyond the box score, Addy is a tough guard who simply helps his team in a variety of ways. Addy pushes the ball up the court when a teammate is running ahead of him in transition, he takes charges and he forced numerous turnovers in the Spartans full court pressing defense. Lima Senior will go as far as their role players take them this season and they have the potential to show up in Dayton for the state championship if everything clicks for them.

Playing without star [player_tooltip player_id='2288381' first='Landon' last='Evans'] on Saturday, I got to see some other players for Pickerington Central play with the ball in their hands and have more offensive responsibility. Moore III had some bright flashes in June and continued his upward trajectory as an athletic guard who can really get to the bucket in both the half court and transition. Moore III has the length to jump passing lanes and his steals usually end up in a layup for Moore III or a teammate at the other end. Pickerington Central has had a young team the past few seasons and now those young players have the varsity experience and talent to make another run at conference and district titles.

I was a fan of watching Toledo St John's on Saturday and despite still missing a few pieces that will be with them this winter, they competed against some top talent in the area. Lindsay is a tough young guard who really competes on both ends of the court for a player his size. Running him off floppy actions and pin down screens, Lindsay can make shots or curl a screen and attack the rim. You need players like Lindsay to win high school basketball games and by the time he is a senior he could have a chance at being an all conference performer if he continues to put in the work.

It was nice to see Taylor find a rhythm for Hawken this weekend. Making a high percentage of his shots off the catch, Taylor is at his best with his feet set. Hawken has a lot of guard talent and I liked that they put some other players in the fire against some top talent to see who they can surround their star trio with. After winning a Division IV regional title, Hawken needs some role players to step up after their move up to Division III.

Santiago Lugo caught fire in a showdown against Reynoldsburg that saw Princeton make a big comeback to sweep the quarters Vs the Raiders. An elite shooter off movement or spotting up, Santiago Lugo can get his shot off from a variety of angles and actions. I also was encouraged by how much space Santiago Lugo created off the dribble with different moves to get downhill. Despite being a mostly off ball creator, Santiago Lugo makes good decisions with the basketball when he's attacking the rim and that secondary creation helps get his teammates open shots as well. I expect Princeton to be one of the top teams in all of southwest Ohio this winter.
