My final preseason stop before the official start of the 2025-26 SC High School Basketball Season was the 11th Annual Terrance Ford Memorial Jamboree. This event has a little bit of added meaning for the hosts, and it honors a former coach and friend of many in the Cheraw area. Not only was it an event stacked with several local, talented schools, it served as one final dress rehearsal before the show gets going this weekend. Check out my eye-catchers from the 11th Annual Terrance Ford Memorial Jamboree:

First up on my list of eye-catchers from the 2025 Terrance Ford Memorial Jamboree is Cheraw's [player_tooltip player_id='2470023' first='Elijah' last='McClain']. McClain is an intriguing Guard who has next-level athleticism and good positional size at the 1. Elijah can pull up in the mid-range or finish at the rim with his bounce, and as his drives wear defenses down, he will earn frequent trips to the free-throw line. The key for Elijah right now is staying aggressive as a driver, but in order for him to be the best player he can be at the next level, he has to develop as a passer. McClain finished with 15 points in the Braves' final preseason game.

Dawson went head-to-head with McClain in Thursday's game, and it was his big second period that helped the Red Foxes pull out a win. He put up 15 points on 6-9 shooting over the last eight minutes, turning it on late with some strong scoring ability. Kayson knocked down two threes, got to his spots in the mid-range, and finished well off drives into the lane. However, the thing that was most important to his team's success was how Dawson turned up his defensive intensity. He has a knack for reading passes right as they happen and tallied 6 steals to go with the standout scoring.

Will was very impressive in Marlboro County's opening game vs Chesterfield. Despite playing just 14 of 20 minutes with a rolling clock, there was no more important player on the court during those minutes. Early in the game, he made a very smart back cut to get to the free-throw line and start finding a rhythm. Jeffcoat had lots of usage as a pick-and-roll ball handler and was able to set his teammates up with clean pocket passes or get to the rim himself. Will was also impactful as a defender, turning a steal into a score in back-to-back possessions. If this is the type of aggressive, smart Point Guard play Jeffcoat will display all season, there's no reason why he can't be an All-Region selection in his Junior Season.

Wednesday's jamboree was my first time seeing Crowder with the Eagles in person. He was an important player for them last season, averaging 11.0 PPG and 7.0 RPG, but last night, without the Eagles' football players, he had to step up even more on the offensive end. Jordan is a well-rounded player in that regard, as he can spot-up for threes, drive into the lane and finish through contact, and float without the ball to the dunker spot and in between zones. Jordan was hit or miss in transition, having both two assists and two turnovers, but he will force turnovers because of his high basketball IQ. He totaled 13 points on 2-3 3FG in a win over Scotland (NC).

Zeke was the highest-ranked prospect on the court yesterday, and he backed it up with a dominant 10-point, 9-rebound performance in a 16-minute game. Clyburn was all over the offensive glass, saving possession after possession for the Volunteers thanks to his instincts, positioning, and length. Most of Zeke's scoring came from the free throw line (6-9), but he did show off his ability to finish in the paint through contact on his two made field goals. The key to Clyburn's college potential will be how well he can develop an outside shot or the ability to create for himself off the dribble, because he has the physical tools to be a good player.

Rounding out the eye-catchers from this year's Terrance Ford Jamboree is a new name to know, LaHenry Yarborough. Yarborough had to carry the load of the short-handed Darlington offense last night, and did it with speed and style. His quick first step allowed him to frequently beat his man and draw other defenders, creating a good look for himself or a teammate on almost every drive. LaHenry also has deep range from three, can finish with either hand at the rim, and will be active with his hands on the defensive end. He finished with 10 points, 5 steals, and 2 assists in the win.
