Philly Live Fall Classic: Standout 2027 wings/forwards

The braintrust behind the annual Philly Live scholastic live period event organized the first ever Philly Live Fall Classic, a one-day showcase event featuring a few dozen high school programs from across the Mid Atlantic. After taking in most of the day's action, we'll continue coverage with a handful of junior wings and forwards who impressed with their respective performances.    With injuries in Judge's frontcourt elevating his role in the rotation, Adedeji took full advantage of the opportunity in two runaway wins while displaying the full breadth of his versatile skillset and budding athleticism. While playing nominally at the '5' in an uptempo Crusader attack, Adedeji showed continued development into a modern mismatch forward. He was effective running the floor for explosive finishes in space but also showcased a finetuned skillset in the halfcourt with swift footwork putting the ball down toward the rim. His natural shooting touch out to the perimeter was just the cherry on top. Very young for his grade and still relatively inexperienced, Adedeji is starting to really turn the corner from prospect to player with plenty of upside left to spare.     Despite a loss at the hands of national power Imhotep (PA), Buley impressed with his wide-ranging offensive skillset in the frontcourt. The budding inside-out threat was at his most effective near the rim, taking advantage of a frontline that lacked a true big but still offered plenty of length and athleticism to provide a true challenge. Buley rose to the occasion, showing soft hands and swift feet while navigating traffic for smooth finishes out of a variety of actions. His ability to make decisions on the perimeter out of dribble handoffs and run the floor for early offense provide a healthy dose of versatility on the offensive end. Buley looks to be on a D1 track with potential upside based on how he continues to develop physically and athletically in the coming years.     Brown has generated some positive buzz since joining Imhotep in June, with his natural defensive instincts and budding athleticism fitting in smoothly to the Panthers' tough-nosed, defense-first culture. He continued to shine in his role on Saturday, using his length and innate timing to force an abundance of turnovers on the defensive end. Brown continues to look more and more explosive as a finisher, with subtle signs of increased fluidity off the dribble as well. He's still in the process of putting all the pieces together but the finished product for Brown projects as a valuable two-way wing at the D1 level.     Audenried looks to be generating positive momentum heading into the season with a new-look rotation that includes a blend of transfers and internally-developed pieces looking to step up significantly in their roles. The key piece among the latter group if the Rockets are to reach their highest ceiling figures to be Lee, who showed continued progression on Saturday as a two-way force on the interior. More of an energy guy last year as a regular starter, Lee is looking increasingly the part of an offensive focal point with his ability to finish efficiently inside and his development as a decisionmaker or dribble-drive threat from the perimeter. His ability to thrive without the ball in his hands should also allow room for Audenried's guards to thrive as playmakers off the dribble. Lee continues to look the part of a scholarship-level forward with D1 potential as he continues tapping into his versatility in the coming years.     A new name on the radar, Vargas impressed with a well-rounded skillset on the wing with positional size and projectable athletic tools. With Cheltenham facing a sizable early deficit, Vargas was key toward dragging the Panthers back into the game. He showed a smooth, versatile complementary game offensively, knocking down shots with a smooth stroke from the perimeter, offering some secondary ballhandling, and using his size to finish opportunistically in the teeth of the defense. We'll look to evaluate him further moving forward, but if his play on Saturday was any indication then Vargas should have no problem finding a home at the small-college level when the time comes with a chance to blossom into a scholarship-level wing as he develops further.
