Minnesota The Expo: Team 12 Evaluations

Breaking down the performances of the prospects from Team 12 at Prep Hoops' The Expo!    Luke came out firing from three early on, and ended up finishing the game with 40 points. It was a continuation of the breakout summer Luke had, putting points on the board in a number of different settings. With Shakopee graduation almost their entire rotation, Luke's scoring numbers could skyrocket this winter. He's a good of a shooter from three as they come in Minnesota, and after shooting up in height over the past couple of years he's now a threat to finish inside as well. Luke showed no problem draining threes with a hand right in his face on Sunday.     [player_tooltip player_id='2966291' first='Oshun' last='Scott'] had to be up there with the single game assist leaders after his performance against Team 17. The 5'10 lefty was racking up assist after assist, setting up his teammates in a number of ways on Sunday afternoon. He was quick enough to get into the lane off the dribble and kick it out to his shooters, could find an open man on the run in transition, and had a full-court pass leading to an easy dunk from his big man. Unselfish guard who sees the floor well.     Carter provided another outside shooting threat for this team. He checked into the game off the bench and it took just seconds for his teammate to find him in the corner before Carter put three points on the board. He mixed in a few more baskets both at the rim and from deep over the rest of the game. High release point on his shot allows him to get it up over a contesting hand. At around 6'2 he has a long frame to defend a number of positions on the floor as well.     In a guard dominated event Owen may not have gotten a ton of post touches, but he still showed some flashes of potential throughout the game. At 6'8-6'9 he can get off the floor quickly, which allows him to throw down dunks in the open floor or contest shots on the defensive end. He has a chance to be one of the best shot blockers in the state as he has good timing, does a nice job of contesting straight up, and is agile enough to move into the right spots to contest. Put in the effort to run rim-to-rim consistently throughout the game.     Gage was one of the more explosive guards I saw on Sunday. On the opening possession of the game he blocked a shot inside, and that was followed up later on by a chase-down block in transition. In the second half he nearly threw down a dunk right over the top of a defender, losing the ball a bit at the top but still converting for two points. He can just lull you to sleep and then explode to the basket out of nowhere.     Sam is a stretch-four who can make plays in the paint or out beyond the arc. At 6'4 he has a strong frame that helps him play through contact or box out bigger players before pulling in rebounds. He was often the guy pulling in a defensive rebound and then launching deep outlet passes up the floor to get his team out in transition. McAlpine also showed his shooting touch by draining a corner three in the second half of the game I watched.     Isaac is a quick guard who impressed with his scrappiness on the defensive end. He was constantly pressuring the ball and fought to get over the top of ball screens. Isaac was always looking to play fast, and helped his team create some good looks by pushing the ball up the floor. Racked up a handful of assists by driving and kicking it out to his three point shooters.
