With the updated 2027 rankings coming out earlier this summer, we decided to take a look at who some of the top players at each position are. Here's a look at part two of the top ranked shooting guards and small forwards in the junior class in VA.

15) [player_tooltip player_id='2399485' first='Samuel' last='Seaborn'] | 6'5” SG | Western Albemarle (#38 Overall)

Seaborn was one of the breakout players in the Charlottesville area this year as part of a talented Western group that will be tough to beat if they stay together, and then this summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2078813' first='VA' last='Premier'] on the HGSL Circuit he showed he's a high upside prospect coaches should pay attention to moving forward. At 6'5” with long arms he has a basketball build that should fill out nicely, he drills it from deep at a very high clip with a quick release and good range, he can attack off the bounce and finish through contact, and he has great instincts on both ends of the floor.

14) [player_tooltip player_id='2853450' first='Farrell' last='Djossinou'] | 6'6” SF | Paul VI (#28 Overall)

Djossinou was a breakout player for Lightridge emerging as one of the top young players in the NOVA public schools earning All Region honors, and after a big summer with VA Elite 16U group he ended up transferring to Paul VI where he showed he will be a big part of their group moving forward. When it comes to long term upside he has it with long arms and explosive leaping ability at 6'6”, he has all the tools to be a lock defender as he continues to learn the game, he can knock it down from deep and get to spots in the midrange, and he still has a ton of room to develop moving forward.

13) [player_tooltip player_id='2470566' first='Brady' last='Burnette'] | 6'3” SG | St. Chris (#26 Overall)

Burnette may not look like the most intimidating player when you're going through warm-ups, but he comes from a basketball family who was highly successful in the Richmond area, and he's shown time and time again that he is one of the most consistent shooters you'll come across in this class. He's grown to 6'3” and gotten more mobile and athletic after growing into his body, he moves well without the ball and isn't afraid to let it fly in transition, he attacks closeouts well to get to the rim and has shown the ability to be a secondary ball handler, and despite his quiet and often joking personality when he steps between the lines he's as tough as they come.

12) [player_tooltip player_id='2353646' first='Simas' last='Kacerauskas'] | 6'7” SF | Episcopal (#24 Overall)

We were on Kacerauskas early when he was a freshman, noticing his major upside as a 6'4” do-it-all wing with his euro style of play, but no-one could have foreseen the jump he would take after transferring to Episcopal as a sophomore. He continued to grow to where he now stands at 6'7” and is a walking mismatch with his inside-out and well-rounded game, he can score the ball from all three levels, he is a talented and unselfish playmaker who sees the floor well, and he's able to play and guard multiple positions making him a huge weapon depending on the look his team wants to give.

11) [player_tooltip player_id='2470557' first='Dean' last='Williams'] | 6'4” SG | Catholic (#23 Overall)

Williams had a very good sophomore season for a deep Catholic team where he wasn't the top option, but as we've seen when it comes to his grassroots performances he is more than capable of being the go-to option and can easily be a takeover type of scorer when he needs to be. At 6'4” with long arms he's a fluid and smooth athlete who can play on or off the ball, he knocks it down at a high clip from deep, he can get to spots in the midrange or at the rim and use his length to make tough shots, and he is the type of player that you'll think has had a decent game and then you look at he's had an efficient 25 on you.

10) Donnell Jarrett Jr. | 6'1” SG | Woodside (#21 Overall)

Jarrett was the breakout player for a Woodside team that had yet another dominant year despite falling short due to injuries in their quest for a third straight state championship, but one thing became clear and it's that he will be their go-to guy moving forward after losing some of their top players the past few years. While he isn't the biggest two guard he understands how to play and brings a no back-down type of attitude to every game he's in. He scores it well from deep off the catch, has great footwork and good elevation in the midrange, finishes well at the rim, and he brings energy defensively too.

9) [player_tooltip player_id='2575696' first='Jamison' last='Ross'] | 6'5” SF | Highland (#19 Overall)

Ross, who's the younger brother of UConn duo Jayden and Jacob Ross, transferred to Highland midway through the season from Patriot last year and has shown he could be following in his brothers' path as a high upside and late blooming wing. He checks the boxes both physically and athletically, with good mobility and explosive leaping ability when he gets downhill or out in transition. Throughout the past year he has improved in his consistency as a catch-and-shoot guy from deep, he can get downhill in straight lines and finish through contact, and he has huge upside defensively with his athleticism as he continues to develop.

8) [player_tooltip player_id='2382874' first='Mason' last='Ridgeway'] | 6'6” SF | Evergreen Christian (#14 Overall)

Rideway had a huge junior season at Riverside helping lead them to a region title and take them to the state tournament, and this summer he decided to transfer to Evergreen Christian and reclassify to the 2027 class to continue to develop. It should prove to be a good move as he was somewhat of a late bloomer and has developed rapidly over the past two seasons, with his overall skillset catching up to his prototypical size and athleticism, and he had a great summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2226248' first='Boo' last='Williams'] 16U on the EYBL and Evergreen in the live periods. He's a do-it-all wing who is an athletic finisher and defender with good size, he can drill it from deep off the catch with good range, he can put it on the deck and put pressure on the defense, and he has a ton of upside defensively too.

7) [player_tooltip player_id='2896951' first='Will' last='Bryant'] | 6'5” SG | Bishop O'Connell (#12 Overall)

Bryant was one of the breakout players in the DMV Live sessions as a new transfer to Bishop O'Connell, and while I can research someone like this and find out that he was a standout at some small school or something, I was unsuccessful in doing so. Regardless, Bryant was impressive to coaches and scouts throughout the DMV Live and will provide O'Connell with a blend of size, athleticism and scoring punch on the wing that will help elevate them in their chase for a WCAC and VISAA D-I state championship. At 6'5” he brought tons of energy and a great motor on both ends playing hard and doing the dirty work, he showed his ability to get downhill and finish through traffic, he worked well off the ball as a screener and coming off screens, and he showed he's a good rebounder and defender as well.

6) [player_tooltip player_id='2194710' first='Brian' last='Mitchell Jr.'] | 6'3” SG | Varina (#11 Overall)

Mitchell Jr. has been one of the best players in the Richmond area since he was an eighth grader and helped lead Life Christian to a VISAA D-III state title appearance, and has since moved on to Varina where he's led them to back-to-back deep state tournament runs and has been All Region twice and All State last season. The 6'3” two guard already has a strong frame that he continues to turn the baby fat to muscle and get more athletic, but it's really his ability to score the ball efficiently in so many different ways that is so impressive about him. Mitchell shoots a gorgeous ball off the catch with great form and rotation and is highly efficient from deep, he gets to spots in the midrange where he can bounce off contact and has great footwork to get to his pull-up, he can finish through contact when he gets downhill, and he is willing to use his size to draw contact and get to the line often.

With the updated 2027 rankings coming out earlier this summer, we decided to take a look at who some of the top players at each position are. Here's a look at part two of the top ranked shooting guards and small forwards in the junior class in VA.
