Legacy Team Camp Report: Standout Performers 2026

The Legacy Team Camp, hosted at Weequahic High School in Newark, NJ, brought together some of the region's most promising basketball prospects in the class of 2026. Over the course of an action-packed 5-day event, a number of young talents distinguished themselves through their skill, versatility, and competitive fire. Here is a look at the standout performers who made a lasting impression and set themselves apart as players to watch in New Jersey high school basketball.    Asante is a versatile mismatch with the size, skill, and athleticism to overwhelm basically any type of opponent. Asante is too big to be guarded by most perimeter players and too fluid/skilled to be contained by bigger opponents. He handles the ball well for his size, which allows him to operate as a primary creator and generate clean looks off the bounce for himself and others. Asante knocks down jumpers at a nice rate from midrange and beyond the arc. He rebounds well for his size and is comfortable toggling across multiple positions defensively. Asante feels like he's only going to continue his upward trajectory.     Avent is a highly polished forward with an intriguing blend of ball skills, interior ability, and the tools to cause a ton of matchup problems for opponents. He displays excellent footwork and soft touch with both hands around the basket. Avent can reliably space the floor along the perimeter and use the threat of his shooting to open driving lanes. He's a great passer for his size and runs the floor well in transition. Avent also stands out as a useful rebounder with quality positioning and defensive instincts. Given everything he's already shown, Avent should definitely be regarded as one of the top players in the state.     Highlander, standing 6-6, is a tough, energetic forward renowned for his aggressive play and versatility. He can handle the ball and finish at the rim but also possesses a reliable three-point shot. On defense, Highlander's willingness to guard positions 1 through 4, combined with his hustle, sets him apart as one of the most complete players in his class.     At 6-7, Mulcahy is a skilled, poised wing who scores from all three levels. His confidence and pace make him comfortable in any perimeter position, allowing him to adapt to various game situations. Mulcahy's polished offensive game, combined with his versatility, marks him as a standout performer with college potential.     At 6-foot-3, Brown has the size to naturally cause matchup problems for opponents. He's a very strong three-level scorer who understands how to apply pressure in a variety of different ways. Brown is a reliable creator with the ability to attack the basket or knock down jumpers from midrange or beyond the arc. He's a solid passer that continues to develop his instincts as a playmaker. Baker displays nice pace off the bounce and is capable of filling it up in a hurry. Between his calm demeanor, general instincts, and ability to play with or without the ball, he's able to find various ways to impact the game. Brown rebounds the ball very well for his size and positions himself well to contain his assignment defensively.      Physical undersize lefty forward who can do it all, Alex stood out with his dog mentality and versatile skill set. Alex showcased his ability to crash the defensive glass and go coast to coast for easy layups. He spent all week controlling the glass and making his presence felt inside. Slashing to the rim hard and converting and-one baskets or drawing contact and getting to the free throw line. Ante also knocked down perimeter jump shots off the catch at a consistent rate. A player to keep your eyes on in the 2026 class.
