Loved what I saw from him this summer. He has the size and skill to match as a big guard that the game comes easier for. He does a bit of everything with smart reads and passes, sees the floor well, and is never sped up. He does the little things that help his team, and in a showcase if he is giving great energy, defending well, and making the right plays, that will play a part in getting back on our radars and in a position to rise. He should come into this as a guard with a chip on his shoulder. I want him to show that his production is not a fluke or just due to the level of competition, and showcase that it translates, and this is the spot for that. Brandt can quiet the noise but also put it all on display. We want all small school players there, but him especially. He's a high-IQ guard that can put the ball on the floor and break down defenses, he can step out and shoot the 3-ball, and runs the offense. For his HS team, he will be tasked with running the show and contributing offensively, and with another solid showing, he can make an even higher leap. When having discussions of some of the top guards in the state, his name is now starting to come up more often, and that is because he has taken a leap. Rock Canyon will be a team to watch this year, and I expect them to make some noise. They are a very talented bunch with scorers, size, and spacing as they play the right way, and he's a guard that adds to it all. Ellwood scores in bunches, plays with energy, and competes hard. With the guards that have already committed, we would be excited to see how he fares alongside them, and we want to see if he has taken another step before the season begins. We didn't see too much of him this summer, but the last time that we saw him, he was one of our favorite players to watch as he took over. He attacks the rim and gets to where he wants, he had soft touch inside and also stepped out and knocked down the 3-ball. He has shown glimpses of being a special player, but we want to see the consistency, and him coming out and dominating at the showcase would let us see exactly where he's at amongst his peers.
